The Best of Everything in 2012

The holidays are over, and ’tis the season for New Year’s diets, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still gorge yourself on some tasty tips and tutorials. The beginning of a new year is a great time to pig out on great content as many sites (including this one) post round-ups of their best articles from the year gone by. Here’s a sampling:

InDesign Secrets has A Look Back at Favorite Blog Posts from 2012, with articles on a wide range of topics like multi-state objects for digital publishing, finding the best tablet PDF reader, fixing local text formatting, and what might be the most useful InDesign plug-in ever.

psdtuts+ posted its Favorite Tutorials of 2012, with more than 50 step-by-step lessons that show how to create anything from chocolate chip cookie text and furry cartoon characters to masks of transparent elements and Twitter app interfaces. Note that some of the content is available only to premium members.

Digital Arts posted several Best of 2012 round ups, including a Best of 2012 Illustrator Tutorials, which features things like texture effects for vector graphics, vintage type styles, and how to create promotional artwork that sells you to new clients.

FontShop posted its Best Type of 2012, in the style of a high school yearbook, with the winning fonts as exemplary students and plugins and apps as teachers. Very clever way to present some great new fonts.
