Apple Flat Panel Studio Display
The Apple Flat Panel Studio Display is getting great marks for design and appearance as well as its color gamut. The drawback here is that beauty comes with a price: images on thin-film-transistor (TFT) monitors are not as clear as on traditional monitors, and color accuracy and image clarity usually suffer as a result. As a Macworld review points out, "its image quality simply can’t match that of a top-notch CRT."
CNET gives the Flat Panel Studio Display a positive review, but ends up questioning whether you get what you pay for. On the $1099 price tag, CNET notes, "That kind of money buys two good-quality 17-inch CRTs," which still have the upper hand in overall performance.
The newest version of this monitor comes with a translucent blue shell, so those of you worried about color clashes on your desktop have been forewarned.
