    Hi all, first time posting here.

    I’m getting acquainted with InDesign and so far it seems terrific, but there is one thing I’m finding a bit frustrating.

    For some reason GREP searches are only returning results from the last few pages of a document. I’m searching for colons followed by a space followed a digit, so :\d in GREP, and results were found only on the last several pages of a 50+ document when this pattern in fact occurs on nearly every page. Meanwhile, a text search of : ^9 is successfully finding the same pattern on all pages. The same thing has happened in three or four different documents.

    Hopefully I’m missing something obvious. If anyone can offer any advice it would be much appreciated.

    Are you searching through the whole document or just in the story?

    If you’re using the latest InDesign 14.0.2 a bug was introduced that caused the GREP search function to search only a few pages in long documents. A patch was issued and it worked for me. Supposedly an update to 14.0.2 is supposed to follow shortly.

    Are you in CC 2019? There was a GREP problem that limited the scope of GREP searches.

    Thank you very much John and David, that patch did the trick. What a relief. Now I can carry on.
