40% Off PDF eBooks from Peachpit Press (Including Real World InDesign)

4

As a longtime Peachpit Press author, I admit that I’m biased… but still this special offer that I just received in my email really does sound too good to pass up:

Did you know that most of our books are also published as PDFs? When you purchase an eBook from us, you can download it right away. Then the info you need is instantly accessible on your desktop, laptop, or PDA.
In keeping with the spirit of Earth Day, we’re offering a 40% discount on the list price of all our eBooks. Visit Peachpit.com for a complete list of eBook titles and enter the coupon EARTHDAYPP during checkout. Sure, Earth Day was last week, but we can cut down on our use of paper any time. This offer is valid through 5/31/2009

This means that you can get an amazingly great price on the PDF versions of:

Of course, these PDF eBooks aren’t as cool as having a printed book at your side. But there are several significant improvements over the physical books, including faster searching, the ability to take it with you more easily, they’re usually cheaper than the print versions, and… there’s no shipping costs!

Note that Peachpit also has lots of excerpts from various books on its site. For example, here’s a list of “articles” they’ve pulled from my books.

Also, I should point out that Peachpit’s ebooks have a DRM associated with them. I’d be interested in hearing about your experience with that. (Don’t bother if you haven’t actually yet tried one of Peachpit’s PDFs, though.)

I don’t know if you provide lessons on CD/DVD’s David, but just to avoid dissapointment take note that this will not be provided with e-books at least not from Peachpit.

There a note on the site stating this but just wanted to point it out.

    Cheers,
    Mike.

  • @gfx: Interesting. No, I don’t have any CDs or DVDs with my books at Peachpit.

David, just a note of prasie for your RealWorld InDesign CS4 book. I purchased it when it became available from Barnes & Noble, and it has been a great complement to the other 2 books I rely on: InDesign CS4 on Demand (Steve Johnson) and InDesign CS4 Visual Quickstart Guide (Sandee Cohen). I have been recommending all 3 books to anyone who asks for good resources.

RealWorld InDesign has solved several problems for me quickly and much more clearly than any of the half dozen other books I have on ID CS4.

I took your advice and bought Adobe InDesign Styles by Michael Murphy. It arrived yesterday from B&N, so I have not yet had a chance to do more than scan it(weekend reading). Although it is an Adobe Press book, it is published by Peachpit. If it is part of the Peachpit deal, that would be the best way to buy it as the print version (255 pages including index and front matter) is expensive at $44.99.
