3Doodler: the world’s first 3D printing pen
Earlier this week, I posted a story on a cool Kickstarter project to create a cheap, high-quality light meter using an iPhone. Here’s another interesting project that caught my eye recently: the 3Doodler: The World’s First 3D Printing Pen.by WobbleWorks, LLC.
The pen heats plastic, which flows through the tip as you draw. The plastic cools and hardens so quickly that you can actually draw in air.
You can also draw on paper and when you’re done, you can lift the object you drew right off the paper. And, in fact, Wobble Works is working on stencil kits you can print out and trace to create cool objects like the Eiffel Tower.
The pen works by itself, so there’s no accompanying software, apps, etc to deal with.
So far, the project has been a runaway success, raising almost $2 million with 3 weeks still to go. You can learn more at the3doodler.com.
