Worry-Free Folding for Complex Print Projects
Use a fancy fold in a print project and you have a better chance of getting your audience’s attention. That’s easy to understand. But go any further down the folding path and things can get difficult. Did you know there are 23 kinds of accordion folds alone? There’s broadside accordion, reverse accordion, wrapped accordion, top-folding accordion with fold-in… And each one of these and many other types of folds require precise page specifications to succeed.
If you aren’t sure how to set up your page-layout template for unusual folds, don’t worry. The Foldfactory, powered by folding fanatic (and CreativePro.com author) Trish Witkowski, is selling specialty fold templates and dielines so that you don’t have to do the math.
Its template subscription service costs $29.99 per year and includes 85 folding styles, any or all of which you can use during that year. The templates are available as InDesign (.indd) and interchange (.inx) formats.

If your unusual fold involves a dieline, check the Foldfactory’s library. It has 35 production dielines, each of which you can buy for $19.99. The templates include both PDF and Illustrator files to accommodate different workflows.
