This Week in InDesign Articles, Number 120
Well, it’s Friday afternoon… what better time to stop, smell the roses (um… sunflowers), and read a bunch of great articles about InDesign and InDesign-related stuff!
- Have you created an InDesign template that you want to sell? Erica tells you how to sell your templates!
- You won’t want to use these fonts based on mathematical structures, but they’re awesome to look at.
- Interesting… blurb already has an InDesign plug-in… now they’re offering a blurb-to-amazon service!
- I can’t tell whether I love this video called “The Power League of Printers” or hate it. It is truly brilliant in a horrible sort of must-see way.
- If you really want to master the split and span columns feature, read and re-read this cool tip by Mamoon Tayih about emulating the css clear:right feature in InDesign.
- This has nothing to do with InDesign, but it’s by a friend and I like it, so that counts for something: How An iPad Can Improve Your Photography
- If you do anything with raster (bitmapped) images (such as Photoshop images), you must read Claudia’s Preparing Raster Images from her book Real World Print Production with Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Good typography is not easy; it takes practice, whether you’re doing print, mobile, or web. The folks at Adobe Typekit know this and have started offering typography lessons. Check it out!
- Speaking of typography… This is one of my favorite images and recent tweets:

- Thomas Phinney wrote a nice piece at Communication Arts about how to tell a good font from a bad one.
- One man’s story of creating a print and EPUB version of a new book, at The Economist.
- Well, everyone has a take on the future of tablet magazines… here’s one: Are Magazine Apps Dead? A State of the Art Roundtable
- I love Bridge, but I have been frustrated that Adobe removed the Output workspace (which allows you export Web galleries and PDF presentations). Fortunately, if you use CC, you can get it back again.
- Here’s a good guide to commonly-used special characters/glyphs
Enjoy!
