MemberText exporter, results in a single rtf file of the whole document

MemberRorohiko have a great plug-in called text exporter which does a great job at this.

MemberTotally agree with Perry about not going back to Word, however if you do need to get the text back into a rtf file I can recommend Rorohiko's text exporter plug in, it does a great job all in one go.

MemberA tricky scenario, setting primary school Math. Not complicated enough for a plug-in but still tricky and a bit labourious
But isn't it a small world, we designed the covers for that series of books

MemberNO quite right I think I had spent too long in Illustrator last week, although the smart guides in ID do show when I am mousing over an object.
Working on a small screen is pretty much an equpment/tool issue and perhaps this person needs to get a bigger monitor and/or change the resolution of the one they have.
Tim Hughes
MemberTurn on smart guides. Then you will know when you are on a point.

MemberUse an object style on the text frame, you need to include the para styles and use the next style feature in those para styles.
Sorry this is a bit brief but I have got to go …

MemberThanks for the steer David. I have to try that as well. For the time being my colleague here went through and pulled out the images into non-fx frames, it was a work around but you know how it is with production “that works, do it”.
It all seems a bit buggy that the edge of the placed file showed up.

MemberYou need to open the Gradient panel, it gives you complete control over the angle of your gradient.
May I suggest using object styles which will allow you to control these elements once you have made them.
Ok so now the coffee has kicked in. You are referring to paragraph rules, my bad.
Very true it seems to be uncontrollable and to acheive what you want, may need a workaround.
I shall watch this space, I know I haven't been very helpful.

MemberWhat is the missing font?
Tim Hughes
MemberIt would only be fair to tell you how I guess.
Pages panel, fly-out menu “Move Pages” (you must make sure you have the target document open), in the drop down menu for “move to” pick your target doc. and away you go.

MemberYes.
August 23, 2011 at 5:13 am in reply to: A question about having a lot of vector files within an InDesign document. #60357Tim Hughes
MemberThat stuff about making vectors into tiffs is a pointless exercise, if anything it will make your document bigger.
Vectors shouldn't add much size to your file at all, are they .ai files? To just assume that is making the file big make be the wrong assumption.
If the “green check marks” are simple shapes why not copy and paste the object/vector from Illustrator into Indesign.

MemberYou don't need to do any of this. You should work on facing pages.
Then output single pages in the final pdf to send to the printer, who will then use imposition software to create the plates to print (that is not your job).
August 2, 2011 at 12:47 am in reply to: Book with 11 sections: should they be recombined for printing? #60193Tim Hughes
MemberUse the book feature. You don't need to combine the files into one at all. It would be a problem concerning styles, unless you are 100% sure you are totally consistant.
If you are unsure whether the pagination is correct, turn off auto page numbering before you add the documents to Book.
Book will let you know if the pagination is right. (It displays the page numbering)
Also, and this is a golden rule when it comes to print, talk to your printer. Let them know you are unsure about the pagination and perhaps send them the pdf files to check over. They can then tell you if you need to do any further work.
Another easy way to combine all sections if you have Acrobat is to do it in that, but your printer will most likely be fine with separate files.
