MemberYes I can see the frame edges, in fact all is as it should be, except the little blue anchor box is missing.

MemberThanks Ken, I thought it may be along those lines. The clients reader is having the same problem, yet they say it is based on Readium.
The plot thickens. This is a straight conversion from print files of a large book, all fonts have been changed to otf or tt, and the conversion looks pretty good in Readium, ibooks and Azardi even.

MemberHi Ken
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately the client wants to change the typefaces, for licensing purposes, so we may have to convert from pdf anyway.
Your method does appeal though.Tim Hughes
MemberWould you recommend your pdf tools over using a pdf to Indesign conversion?
I have been outputting fxl from Indesign directly so far.
Thanks

MemberCheck it’s not fixed layout.
If it’s any help with how big these things can be, I am working on an epub3 fxl that outputs over 200MB, and the Yellow Submarine ebook is over 300MBTim Hughes
MemberAlthough it makes me feel sad for trees that you are going to print a 933 page epub.

MemberThanks Anne-Marie, I am currently exploring what is possible with fixed layout and that course looks exactly what I need to go to the next level. I spent a few hours with Jon Bessant at Certitec getting a great intro to fixed layout epubs, and now I have eventually found some time to go further into them I am quite excited by the possibilities.
I have successfully embedded a video with the help of the Media encoder but I can’t get a youtube video to play yet, however, I shall sign up for the lynda course and see where it takes me.Tim Hughes
MemberIt previews fine in Indesign however does not show up at all in ibook after Import.
Anyone had this issue?Tim Hughes
MemberOk so I got that it is actually more straight forward than I thought. :)
Aside from editing the dimensions, is there a way to go full screen?
Any further links to what is possible with multi-media and interactivity in fixed layout epubs would be gratefully received.
Cheers

MemberI have successfully been using CS6 with Mavericks and now Yosemite, no problems at all. You do need to back grade Java for Illustrator but you get a prompt to do that, and its easy.

July 10, 2014 at 5:20 am in reply to: How to convert Pantone color swatches to CMYK to make print-ready PDF? #69435Tim Hughes
MemberIt also begs the question, why use PMS colours in the first place if the intention is CMYK output.
Let us never forget that ink is gooey, analogue stuff, PMS gives the printer the tools to get the colour right, if CMYK is required instead then the ISO standards have given us all the tools to make that consistent too. They are different though, like apples and oranges.
Any conversion from one to the other is an approximation, always will be even if Adobe and Pantone designated the LAB based figures, the gamut of what is possible with CMYK does not cover all PMS possibilities.Tim Hughes
MemberDavid,
I love the pot of ink line, it’s the best way to make people realise that the end colour has little to do with what the computer says, it’s a reminder that analogue is still a thing.Tim Hughes
MemberI agree with Eugene and David, however I have one caveat, I am at the design stage of a job, and my client has a PMS book with the above colours and is picking those colours. I was hoping to use the PMS break down either LAB or CMYK to get the same colour as she is seeing. Thus I was a bit surprised that the library in CS6 is not complete. Its more of a reference thing as opposed to production at this stage.
So I should really get the same reference book as my client as well, but it would be nice to pick it in ID as well.
I thank all involved for your input.

MemberYes the Pantone website shows it, but no support for it in Indesign!
