MemberThanks David, I”ll check that out. And one day I’m going to pursue my new career in writing InDesign scripts! :-)

MemberAnother place this occurs is in the Paragraph Style Options panel > Indents and Spacing. Each of the indent fields and the space before/after fields work similarly. Click in one, then press Up/Down Arrow or Shift Up/Down Arrow and you get a precise default increment. I am just wondering how to change those defaults from 1/16 inch and 1/4 inch to, say, 1/10 inch and 1/5 inch?

MemberGood morning. I hate to be a pain, but the issue is with the data entry fields in the control panel (i.e. the toolbar that goes across the top) and what happens when you click into one of those fields (e.g. the Y: field) and press Up/Down Arrow or Shift Up/Down Arrow. There is a default increment associated with that operation and I’m wondering how to change it. The default (when the units are inches) is 1/16 inch and 1/4 inch. I’d like to change the 1/4 inch to 0.2 inch (corresponding to my baseline grid).
Cheers!

MemberI’d love to use parsecs, but what’s the use?! :-)
However, to your point, Preferences > Units has keyboard increments for Cursor Key, Baseline Shift, Size/Leading and Kerning/Tracking, but those don’t affect (as far as I can tell) the data entry fields in the control panel, which is what I’m asking about. I must be missing something.

MemberAha, thanks so much David. This should do nicely.

Member“Do the opposite. . .”, yes indeed. I’m giving a try right now.

MemberI agree with David–brilliant! Very mathematical thinking–change the unsearchable into something searchable, and then change it back. I’m going to try it. Thanks so much.

MemberThanks Petar. There are times like this when having a Facebook account would be useful. :-)
But even with GREP, is it actually possible to formulate a search where a style applies to only part of the search result, e.g. match <beginning of word><one or more non-italic letters><one or more italic letters><end of word>?

MemberI have contacted Adobe support and they confirm that this is a known issue in InDesign (and evidently it also affects the Bridge “Place in” command). They are unable to commit if/when it will be fixed and confirmed the only way to formally report it is through https://indesign.uservoice.com, which I’ve done.
Sadly, this path length limit in Windows was removed at least 5 years ago, and while Photoshop 2021 seems to have been updated, it seems InDesign and Bridge did not get that memo. I have found other folks suffering with the same problem, e.g. unable to create an InDesign Package because that blows the path length limit. The problem tends to affect folks who have structured folder structures and naming conventions that they want to stick to (or are required to use by clients). In other words, this will tend to affect enterprises and professionals, such as myself. I’m sure a lot of folks have never tripped over this problem.

MemberGood morning folks. As I explore this issue further, it spreads! Here’s something to try:
1. Locate the deep folder in Bridge.
2. Right click the image file.
3. Choose Place > In Photoshop
4. ERROR: Script Alert: Error: Expected a reference to an existing File/Folder.So this issue affects other CC components besides InDesign.
I will post this on the wish list.
Cheers and stay well everyone! Someday soon perhaps you’ll be able to come visit us in beautiful British Columbia again.
