MemberThanks for the response. Yes, I am talking about a file within InDesign which has NOT been exported.
After playing around, creating different objects and encountering the same problem, I have finally been able to recreate not exactly, but more or less, the object which I want and avoid the stacking order problem. However, the book file which I am working with has about 15 text files and this is the third time that this problem has arisen in different files with different objects. This “object appearing below master page objects” problem has been a real puzzle and I was just hoping someone might have a hint as to what is causing it.
So I guess what I am trying to say is that I have created a workaround, but if anyone has any insights on the problem, I am all ears!!!

MemberHello all!
I hope that I am not going off on a tangent here or misunderstanding you, but it sounds like you are setting the action for each individual button on each individual page. Even though you do still have to do some work in Acrobat, you should be able to set the action once on a single button that you made in InDesign and then use “duplicate” for the same button on the rest of the pages.
I am not quite sure what the exact command is in English, but I do believe it is “duplicate” which you can access by right clicking.

MemberThanks so much for help (David Blatner)! I was going to take you up on your offer and actually upload a video! However, I did another search online and discovered the answer in the Adobe forums (which appeared to have been down yesterday). So I have resolved the issue and I think that it is worthwhile to let you (and everyone else) know what the problem was because IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!
There is a known issue with panels and tools not responding to mouse clicks in Vista and Windows 7 when the DPI setting is too high. The problem is explained here at https://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/k…..
Once I reset the monitor, I was back to smaller font size, but everything worked fine.
As an aside, I did/do have a slider on my book panel, because once you get past a certain number of files, a slider automatically appears. The other “issues” I mentioned where related to the fact that none of the panels were working properly.
As an even further aside, thanks for all your work here and the videos on lynda.com!

MemberI already tried the rebuilding preferences options. I have also discovered that I cannot move the slider on the book panel, select objects and move between layers, change values for border widths along with a whole bunch of other things. I can input and edit text. I checked to make sure that my mouse and keyboard are working in other programs and there are no problems.
So I tried a reinstall and I am having the same problems. These problems do not seem to be specific to a specific file/document/book, but are global, weird and HIGHLY FRUSTRATING!
Any other suggestions would be welcomed, because work has come to a standstill.
Thanks!

MemberIf you still need the file converted, let me know and I will do it for you.

MemberDear Eugene,
Thanks for the offer to take a look at the file. I have solved the problem. I figured that there was something hidden related to doing the original text in a Japanese version of Word. A lot of retyping on the affected pages ended up eliminating whatever was screwing up the PDF conversion.
Thanks again!

MemberThanks Bob for pointing out my faux pas. It was not my intention to ask anyone to do anything unethical and I apologize if anyone took that to be my objective.
The “bug” is basically that while animations appear all pretty and nice in the preview window, they cannot be exported to PDF without converting them manually page by page to a SWF file or using a wonderful script provided by Martinho da Gloria. Also there are problems with the background appearing white. The whole issue can also be avoided by doing the designs in Flash.
James Fritz described the work around in great depth in his lynda.com title on Interactive PDFs (which I highly recommend to anyone interested in interactive InDesign documents/projects).
Since no one has commented, I will assume that the status quo shall remain the status quo.

MemberScott,
While I have not done Arabic in InDesign nor have I used the World Tools plugin, I use the Japanese version of CS5 and have had similar type of problems trying to format English in the Japanese version. What I have discovered is that hidden through out InDesing are global format settings with an English version and a Japanese version. These settings affect line spacing, bullet list formatting and other such formatting areas. I suggest mucking around and seeing if you can some global setting that is set to English/Roman alphabet character set as opposed to an Arabic character set. I found these settings by clicking the tiny little button in the upper right corner when the cursor is in the text frame and a long list of text related setting are displayed.
