MemberDavid,
Thank you. I installed a trial of WordsFlow and it is very interesting. I understand what you said about the styles mapping, I’ll try a GREP to format the styles if needed. Thank you.
And besides this problem, the feature they have to transform a text in a linked Word doc will be very useful for me too.
Thanks a lot!

MemberI’ve made a test here that worked, but not 100%. I created a CSV like:
Question 1, answer 1 A, answer 1 B, Question 2, answer 2 A, answer 2 B (and so on).
So questions and answers in one row, one column for each item. Linking it to Indesign, it showed me each field and I added them to my document. I have only one database position and A LOT of fields.
Problems:
– I need to generate the merged document every time to get the questions in there.
– I don’t think it was a very smart idea.Luiz Silveira
MemberDavid,
As usual, you are right. Thanks, I had a GREP Style with a “no break” to avoid having less than 20 characters in the last line. The style was based in another style that had it. I needed to create a new document and remake the styles from scratch to solve, but it worked.
Thanks a lot.

I liked the first link title… very encouraging. :))))

MemberThanks. This makes perfect sense.
I have here a file that has a PSD on each page (product mockups). It’s crazy on screen, and I need to output it with a different PDF configuration to make it shows right. Indesign is not for beginners. :)
I see the same Pantone problem in Illustrator. I’ve made some tests here today. I have two logos, both PMS 286C. When I open them in separated documents, they show a different blue. If I put both in the same document, they show the same color. Adobe is weird sometimes. :)
Thanks again, David. You always help us a lot!

MemberThanks, David. It makes a lot of sense. Some files have images, and others don’t and the difference is between them. It’s not about transparency, but a drop shadow (that needs transparency to happen…).
In the past, I remember that the Pages Panel showed an icon when there was transparency in the page. I don’t see it anymore. But it’s fine.
Thanks for your help.

MemberThanks, Brett.
We are performing some tests and until now, Adobe Cloud seems to work fine. I like some extra tools they have, but people will not use them (I’ll try anyway).
Our main problem here is we work in 32 languages, so things need to be very organized. It’s working, but need to rely on some people that can work in this way.
Thanks for the welcome message. :) It was my dream to work in the new century. I still have clients printing the PDF and sending pictures of the page with comments…

MemberHi, Claudio.
Thanks, I’m already doing that. And it’s okay, make the process easier. I was just trying to make it even more automatic. :)
I’m a great fan of scripts and any way to save us time in repetitive tasks. Mostly because, as you probably know, we need to make things fast sometimes and any tool that will reduce the chance of errors will be veeery helpful.
Thanks,

MemberEdit, Place and Link! Sorry, now I understood and it worked as a charm! Thanks a lot!

MemberKai,
Variables won’t work because:
1. Texts frames are in different page (in the same spread) and the “Running Header” variable will work only in the same page.
2. And when I put it into the master, even if it’s in the same page, I need to override the first text to “update” the variable.I tried with Cross Reference, but didn’t help.
What did you mean by Link and Place? Use an external source for the text?
Thanks,
LuizLuiz Silveira
MemberThanks. I tested the older version and worked fine.

MemberThanks. I’ll test it.

MemberDear Dwayne,
I agree with you and prefer the “serious” machines, but I travel a lot and need to work in weird places. I was thinking in the past that I can have a desktop and a laptop, so I can work better when here, and have the option when on the road, but since laptops are doing well with my work, I forgot about this idea.
Some people from Apple Forum gave me good advices. They explained that new machines, even having similar speed then my actual machine, their processing power is grater. So I’m thinking about the cheaper MacBookPro model with a processor upgrade. Still checking benchmarks and other opinions, but I think will be it. :)
Thanks a lot and as soon as I buy it I’ll share here the experience. Maybe it can help other people to take a decision. :)

MemberThanks, Kai Rübsamen.
I’ll go for metadata, so I can have the PDFs already “configured” to show the URL ad will have no extra work in including it every time when importing them into my file.
I’ll test it and see. :)
Thanks a lot!
