MemberI can't comment on why ID is crashing, but AutoFlow Pro might be of help (or might be over-kill for your needs)…

Member@Jong:
You are only going to have a Story, XMLStory, Footnote, Note, or Cell returned for the parent property of text. The “parent” listings are a more liberal definition of parent. It's any object which contains the text in its properties, rather than the strict parent of the text…

MemberI don't think you can come up with a GREP to really solve this problem. The problem is: Smart Title Case is not just converting the first letter to caps except for cetain words.
The first word of a title should always be capitalised — even if it's “A” or “The” etc. There's also words like USA, InDesign, etc.
FWIW, my Formatting Tools solves all these problems and can convert by style: https://in-tools.com/wordpress/…..ools-1-0-5

MemberIf the problem is with (faulty) machinery which automatically drops blank pages, you can solve that by putting the tiniest dot somewhere on the page, that will not likely get noticed…

MemberThe new version of Column Flow (not up for download yet…) can do this: https://in-tools.com/plugin.php?p=4
(Now if I can only get the manual done and get it up for download…) :-(
