ParticipantHello Michel
this is what i would like to achieve: with crossrefernces
que reicae ma estius et et fugit (fig. 2.1) voluptassus
my figure title reads as follows Figure 2.1 this is an example of text description.
if iI use the cross reference “paragraph number” I get the following
que reicae ma estius et et fugit (Figure 2.1) voluptassus
1- I created a para style
2- I created an invisible Font
3- in the para style Grep tab I included
Grep code: Fig\.\KFigure
Char style: invisible
4- I created a Cross reference format
the definition is as follows
Fig.<paraNum />what I get when I create my cross reference is
Fig. (2 spaces no references to the figure numberque reicae ma estius et et fugit (Fig. ) voluptassus
What am I doing wrong

ParticipantDavid instead of using a tab delimiter how about and indent to here mac indesign shortcut “cmd\”
Just tried it and it works wonderfully
YAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
this reduces my styles from 3 different styles to just 1
imagine 3 styles for Figure number, 3 for Tables, 3 For Examples , 3 for Problems
That’s 4 styles instead of 12…….

ParticipantThe tip center on the longest line does not suit what I need. nice tip I can use that in another part of the book
I have a figure text box that is 2.5″ wide or 5″
what I need to do is center the text in this text box
no problem for that all I have to do is set the center option.
but if the the text line is too long the second line will flow and also be centered.
what I would like is that the second and all other lines line up with the first word in the figure description
it would be very useful
many figures in this book that I am working onAgain thank you for the help

ParticipantI have a figure that spans on 5 pages.
I am using auto numbering so if i insert a figure the figure numbers increment
I have to number the figure which is no problem for the first page.
the problem is the other 4 pages the figure number will increment.
is there a way that I can keep the same figure number without breaking the number sequence?example: I would like to see this
previous figure is numbered Figure 7-3
Page 1 Figure 7-4 Name of the figure part (a)
Page 2 Figure 7-4 Name of the figure part (b)
Page 3 Figure 7-4 Name of the figure part (c)
Page 4 Figure 7-4 Name of the figure part (d)
Page 5 Figure 7-4 Name of the figure part (e)
the next figure is numbered Figure 7-5thank you
