Erica GametKeymasterIs the SM using a character style? If so, you can search SM in that style (don’t even need to use GREP)…but that all depends on if it’s styled and what you want to do with the found text. Or are you needing to find SM and style it?

Erica GametKeymasterAnother thought: number using a character style where the “numbers” are in something like dingbats…then use F/C to find those glyphs and replace with the glyph you need. Still would need to convert to actual/static text first.

Erica GametKeymasterThe only way I could think of doing it, is to convert to actual text (when you’ve finalized your copy). Maybe use the 001, 002, 003 option, then use Find/Change to replace it? Not sure if there is a way to use the Glyph tab of F/C to replace the previously auto numbered item with a glyph via unicode. Throwing the idea out there in case anyone else can add to this.
Erica GametKeymasterI don’t know of any way to change that info…but usually if you have something set to none it just doesn’t list it. I’ve often wished it was organized more in a bulleted list type, rather that attribute + attribute + attribute, etc.
Erica GametKeymasterI’m not 100% sure what you’re asking for…text wrap is set on the graphic item, not the text. You can set up an object style for the graphics frame so that you can always have the same amount of wrap.
Erica GametKeymasterYou can create a “blue” character style and build a GREP style into any paragraph style that needs the blue V. If you have multiple styles where this occurs, they’ll each need to have the GREP style built in (unless they are all based on one style, then you just need to change it in the parent style). Also, if you have another character style applied already, it won’t work (one char style allowed). You could also do a find/change if that’s easier. And for that you could just use the text field, since you know which specific character you need to change…Find: V and Change formatting: blue character style.
Erica GametKeymasterDo you already have the images on the page? You can select them all, then move the little colored proxy in the Layers panel to the layer you want to put them on.
Erica GametKeymasterI just ran into tooltips not working in the Pages panel…not showing me which section I am hovering over. Annoying. I am still one minor build behind…fingers crossed it’ll fix it when I update!
Erica GametKeymasterYou have to set the Reference Point (in the upper left corner of the Control panel) to the center point. Then rotating and flipping will occur around the center of the object.
Erica GametKeymasterHmmmm…I haven’t had this problem…but I still haven’t done the very latest update to ID. Good to know to keep an eye out!
Erica GametKeymasterIn Preferences > Interface, under Cursor and Gesture Options, you can choose Normal, None, or Fast for tooltips…are you NOT seeing them even with one of the “on” options checked?
Erica GametKeymasterYeah, I probably don’t use the word boundary as often as I should…I guess I wouldn’t expect 32nd to show up in the middle of a word…
Also, I skipped that last line in your original post because I thought it was just a favorite quote of yours and part of your signature! #needsleepandortea
Erica GametKeymasterI haven’t seen that bug, either. Ari, you were too quick on the reply for me…haha! My expression I use for ordinals is nearly the same…what are the last two characters (backslash greater than) for in yours?
Erica GametKeymasterHmmm…I did everything except rebuild preferences (in my experience that never fixes my particular issues and I spend my day restoring custom settings), though I always repair OS X permissions and that almost always clears out the cobwebs. In this case, nothing helped, and the file was still acting up. I decided to create a new doc (something I should have done first) and typed the offending word many times. Ignore All did its job perfectly. Oddly, when I went back to the first file, it then got the memo that it was supposed to ignore the word and never even flagged it. My only thought is that some weird gremlin got introduced with the text I copied and pasted into InDesign (I write in Simplenote).
Erica GametKeymasterThat’s strange…I was able to click on it and download it. The URL is https://creativepro.com/downloads/InDesign_Magazine_index.pdf
