Erica GametParticipantDo you already have the images on the page? You can select them all, then move the little colored proxy in the Layers panel to the layer you want to put them on.
Erica GametParticipantI just ran into tooltips not working in the Pages panel…not showing me which section I am hovering over. Annoying. I am still one minor build behind…fingers crossed it’ll fix it when I update!
Erica GametParticipantYou have to set the Reference Point (in the upper left corner of the Control panel) to the center point. Then rotating and flipping will occur around the center of the object.
Erica GametParticipantHmmmm…I haven’t had this problem…but I still haven’t done the very latest update to ID. Good to know to keep an eye out!
Erica GametParticipantIn Preferences > Interface, under Cursor and Gesture Options, you can choose Normal, None, or Fast for tooltips…are you NOT seeing them even with one of the “on” options checked?
Erica GametParticipantYeah, I probably don’t use the word boundary as often as I should…I guess I wouldn’t expect 32nd to show up in the middle of a word…
Also, I skipped that last line in your original post because I thought it was just a favorite quote of yours and part of your signature! #needsleepandortea
Erica GametParticipantI haven’t seen that bug, either. Ari, you were too quick on the reply for me…haha! My expression I use for ordinals is nearly the same…what are the last two characters (backslash greater than) for in yours?
Erica GametParticipantHmmm…I did everything except rebuild preferences (in my experience that never fixes my particular issues and I spend my day restoring custom settings), though I always repair OS X permissions and that almost always clears out the cobwebs. In this case, nothing helped, and the file was still acting up. I decided to create a new doc (something I should have done first) and typed the offending word many times. Ignore All did its job perfectly. Oddly, when I went back to the first file, it then got the memo that it was supposed to ignore the word and never even flagged it. My only thought is that some weird gremlin got introduced with the text I copied and pasted into InDesign (I write in Simplenote).
Erica GametParticipantThat’s strange…I was able to click on it and download it. The URL is https://creativepro.com/downloads/InDesign_Magazine_index.pdf
Erica GametParticipantEven if it doesn’t work, this just made my day. Officially packing up and going in search of a tumbleweed! Or maybe a baseball game…thanks, David!
Erica GametParticipantWhen I select the image with the Selection tool, then hit Esc, the entire table is selected…and I still can’t choose the graphic cell options from the Table menu. Strange.
Erica GametParticipantSo, if you’ve already placed a graphic in a cell (forcing it to become a graphic cell), and you want to select the cell, to then get into the graphic cell options (maybe to change the cell inset), how are you selecting the cell?
I have the released version (not in the beta program anymore)…
Erica GametParticipantI adapted from another GREP search I have. This fits your example (actually, I made one Tom S. Jones to be sure an initial would work).
find:
^(\w+)([ \w.]+)?(\w+)?(,)( )(.+)
change to:
$6: $1$2$3
I don’t think I could make it group all New York listings together, for example.
Erica GametParticipantJust wanted to say that this post came in so handy yesterday! Someone asked if I could get them a GREP expression to find all #s between a certain range and add 50 to them. I immediately thought of the Number Generator script (thanks, David B. for introducing me to that one) and Jongware's excellent GREP for finding a range of numbers was invaluable! One of the things I love about GREP is finding an expression that does something very similar, then picking apart the elements to tweak it to my needs. Working with GREP keeps the ol' gr(e|a)y matter awake!
