MemberNo need to take out your frustration on me. I have purchased scripts from scripters in the past. And no one was disrespecting scripters or saying what they do isn’t complicated.
People (no matter where they are from) will always look for a free solution first. So far as me using your script, I have no use for it.
Enjoy your day.

MemberDavid–I’ve used the Markzware one–and it does a decent job, though I admit I’ve only used it a handful of times. And the success depends upon what program was used to create the PDF.
And the end result won’t be perfect. But the main thing is that the keystrokes are there.
But that’s like any conversion program–the main objective is to get the text and whatever styles you can.

MemberIt is a nightmare trying to clean up a Word file exported/saved from a PDF. Total nightmare. Believe me–I’ve tried it.
And then you either have to tag the file with ID taggging, or style the Word file to import, or style the entire thing by applying style sheets on individual items in Indesign.

MemberAnd no one is saying otherwise or disputing that. Just because someone doesn’t want to pay for a script and would rather spend a little more time doing it via other solutions doesn’t mean they are disrespecting scripters.
It simply means they don’t want to buy the script.

MemberWhen I deal with tables with a lot of columns, I either sideturn it (landscape on the page); or extend across facing pages (spread).[in the latter case I compensate for the gutters.

MemberJim, I’m glad I was able to steer you in the right direction, and that you got it figured out.
Bob–I always thought the folder had to be “Document fonts” as well (exactly as typed [except for the quotes]). But I’ve noticed that in the later versions of InDesign that “Documents Fonts” seems to work. I don’t know when it was changed. But “Document Fonts” does work in CC2017. I just tried it again.
Dwayne Harris
MemberAre the fonts in a “Document fonts” folder or are you. using something like Suitcase/Fusion?
Dwayne Harris
MemberGood luck, Dennison. All the best as well.

MemberThat must have been years ago. I think they definitely got rid of the arrow back in OS Lion.
Back then one could get them back via fancy stuff in the terminal, but I don’t think that’s the case any more.
And to be honest–I never tried–I keep away from the terminal whenever possible.
As an aside–I never had a problem with Apple getting rid of the arrows. I personally didn’t like the arrows.
I don’t think there is a hack for InDesign to bring back the arrows that Apple discontinued.
Dwayne Harris
MemberI admit I’ve never used that feature. We just usually have the keyboarder type in the number when I’m marking up the manuscript.
Dwayne Harris
MemberI’m glad you figured it out, Dennison.
What setting was it?
Dwayne Harris
MemberI had that happen a few years ago (copying and pasting a text box turned it into an uneditable graphic kind-of thing.
I don’t remember what the cause was, or how I fixed it. I may have exported the file as IDML and then opened that. I don’t believe I rebuilt any preferences.
Is this happening with just this document or doesn’t it matter?

MemberSometimes the software things a reply is spam for some reason (I think that’s what David told me at one time).
I would email him, but I no longer have his email address. I lost a bunch of my old emails when I migrated my stuff over to my new iMac.

MemberYeah-there are two buttons at the top right of the search box (under “direction”). Forward and Back.
I don’t have CS3, so maybe that wasn’t available in that version.
It does come in handy at times.
Good luck with your catalog. I don’t think there’s an easy way to do a search the way you would like.
