Actually–I can’t tell what is going on due to the low quality and no sound.

I personally have no problem with the kerning options available.
Can you use a negative number for the top and bottom?
What operating system, and what version of InDesign?
I’ve only experienced that when I was dragging a box between spreads (downwards). If I accidentally let go in the gray area (between spreads), it would pop up to the top of the page and go wacky on me.
Are the sidebars the same text measure as the text? Or off to the side of the page?
Can you be more specific?
Are those text lines in separate text boxes, or threaded? Are they some kind of heads or regular text?
Do you want to increase the size of the text box to fit, or make the type smaller to fit the box?
Is is text boxes or table cells?
Did you try appending the styles from one to the other?
Are you highlighting the text in question entirely and applying the style? Or just click anywhere in that line?
If the former–is there a character that has white in it and is accidentally being applied?
Turn on World Composer in your style sheets that have Hebrew.
