ParticipantI am all about solutions and options… that’s what I came here for. I am getting a little annoyed, that I spent huge amounts of time on technology that is now abandoned or is being replaced with the “next big thing.” I had high hopes for InDesign interactive, and I spent a considerable amount of time messing around with Flash. Looking like wasted time at this point.
But at the end of the day… I’m not a programmer and don’t want to be. Although, it’s hard to believe that I’ve spent 30 years working on computers as a graphic designer and I’m NOT a programmer. Sigh. Guess I need to check out Edge Animate. Back to Lynda…

ParticipantI know how to “use” InDesign’s interactive features… I just spent 2 years (possibly wasted?) creating presentations and pdfs with interactive capabilities. I’m wondering now whether it was a waste of time as flash is dead, and dps is the “new” way to go. I’m trying to decide what I should focus on for repurposing InDesign content for the future. That’s it.
Thanks.

ParticipantI have had this problem using InDesign interactive for the last 2 years… I developed some complex interactive presentations with buttons and multi-state objects and discovered this in the process. There is no way to fix it and I’m assuming Adobe thinks most people will never encounter the problem unless they really push the envelope with InDesign interactive. I was trying to create a complete Flash type presentation with rollovers and multi-states and I had to put buttons inside the multi-state that corresponded to button areas on the background (not in the multi). The buttons although lined up pixel perfect “appeared” out of alignment?
Very frustrating… and potentially wiping out the possibility of using InDesign for this type of thing. It really depends on how you use the interactive capabilities of InDesign and to what extent you try and add interactivity as to whether you can be sidetracked by this problem. I’ve wondered whether people are using the interactive features or not?

ParticipantHmmm… I'm not sure what you mean by utilities… there is no utilities in the Hyperlinks fly-out menu? I'm on CS5.5 I'm linking the index items (text) to pdf files stored in a folder. But when I move the index (and folder of items) I need the links to still work. So it's a mater of the index pdf remembering where the links go after moving…
