David BlatnerKeymasterMassey: The basic method is not to have multiple versions of the script, but rather to have more than one version of the .txt file that it calls (the one in the find change folder). If you change the file name slightly, the script can't find it and then asks you which you want to use.
I discussed this in my movie on find/change at lynda.com: https://www.lynda.com/home/Disp…..lpk2=46814
David BlatnerKeymasterThat's interesting… If you choose Multiple Space to Single Space from the query pop-up menu in the find/change dialog box, it uses this expression to get all the spaces:
… whoa! I cannot copy and paste that expression to here! Something about InDesign or the Mac OS clipboard converts the grep expression to a bunch of white spaces!… but you can see the expression by choosing that menu item in find/change.
David BlatnerKeymasterNo, I don't think ID can look ahead at the next page for the variable text. It can only look at the current page and the previous pages.
You might consider using the Section Marker feature instead (and setting that up in the Section and Numbering Options dialog box.
Or, if it's a big project, perhaps Power Headers from in-tools.com could do the trick.

David BlatnerKeymasterIt's a great idea, but I can't think of any way to do it, outside a script…
David BlatnerKeymasterTricky… this might take you part of the way there:

but I don't think you could do it with a dash…
David BlatnerKeymasterWeird. What happens if you double-click on it in Windows Explorer? I don't think Bridge is doing any magic; it's probably just asking the OS to open the file. Perhaps the file name mapping got messed up in Windows?

David BlatnerKeymasterAre you experiencing this:
https://creativepro.com/eli…..effect.php
or this:
https://creativepro.com/eli…..ndrome.php
Does that help?
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, they may have fixed that… Shift-page down certainly jumps to the same place on the page in CS4.
David BlatnerKeymasterThanks, Jennie. Yes, it's been a busy week… month… year…. decade… life… ;)
The clue is how you created the “objects.” You made them on the master page, then overrode them, then duplicated the pages. If you duplicated the pages and then overrode the objects on each page, one at a time, it would probably be more reliable. But when you duplicate the pages, ID must create each page object… and it probably starts with the “last one first” (LIFO).
David BlatnerKeymasterAre you saying that InDesign actually moved the marks on the page itself? I can't think of why that happened… unless you used file > document setup to increase the page size.
Is this reproducible? Does it happen each time you follow the same steps in a new document?
