David BlatnerKeymasterNo, you cannot lock content, just objects. My only suggestion would be to put the table in its own set of frames (story) so that text before or after it is not affected.
David BlatnerKeymasterGREP Styles cannot change text, but you can sort of fake it with a special font. See this blog post: https://creativepro.com/ins…..styles.php
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can use Layout Zone from automatication.com to convert placed INDD files into editable objects.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can probably do this in the normal Text tab (not grep). Just search for ^tyes and replace it with ^C
What is ^C? It means “replace with whatever is on the clipboard.” So before you do this find/change, select whatever you want it to look like and copy it to the clipboard (including images).
David BlatnerKeymasterI like the plug-ins from Teacup Software, which can make both 1D and 2D (qr) codes:

[Note: I do have a small business relationship with Teacup. But I'm serious that I think these tools are awesome.]
David BlatnerKeymasterIs it this? https://creativepro.com/why…..design.php
David BlatnerKeymasterWhen you make a PDF, the crop and bleed marks will appear to be placed inside the page, but they are actually marking where the page edge should be cut. That is, the white “page” in the PDF is now larger than your page in InDesign because it added the marks.
David BlatnerKeymasterMy guess is that this is not a Mac vs. PC thing, but a version number thing. They probably have CS5.5 and you have CS5, or something like that.
In general, there is very good compatibility between Mac and Windows sharing.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou could use this script from Tomaxxi:
https://carijansen.com/2011/11/…..age-links/
It won't rename them automatically… but I'm not sure how any script could do that. How would it know how a file was renamed?
David BlatnerKeymasterI agree with Jongware, but I add that it is far, far better (quality) to open the grayscale image in Photoshop, convert to Mode > Duotone, and use the tools there to add the color as a duotone. See the pdf excerpt from my old (but still relevant, in this case) book:
Excerpted from Real World Adobe Photoshop CS3 by David Blatner and Bruce Fraser
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can use the Keep Options settings (in the paragraph styles definition) to start the paragraph on “the next odd page.”
And you can use a trick to force it to start down on the page:
https://creativepro.com/pus…..f-text.php
You can also see this in action in Rufus' “euro-bonus” tip… go to
https://creativepro.com/res…../tutorials
click on “Tim Cole’s Frame-based grids” and look at page 7
March 2, 2012 at 10:39 am in reply to: How can I reduce the size of my Flash file created in Indesign #61733
David BlatnerKeymasterThis is is a common problem… InDesign is not designed to make small flash banners. There is too much overhead. The only solution would be to export as FLA, open in Flash, and recreate the SWF from there (but this will require knowledge of flash and possibly actionscript).
David BlatnerKeymasterYou will need Windows to run the Windows version of InDesign. But you can run Windows on a Mac, with Fusion or Parallels, for example.
David BlatnerKeymasterIn fact, if you open the Photoshop PDF in Acrobat, you can see that there are no Layers! So Photoshop is not including the layers in the PDF. Too bad.
David BlatnerKeymasterWow, I don't know if this is a bug or something changed… or perhaps it never worked properly… but you appear to be correct: PDF files from Photoshop do not display their layers in InDesign. It only works with PSD files. That is unfortunate, as you need PDF to maintain vector type.
