David BlatnerKeymasterWow… hm. Um. Perhaps try rebuilding your InDesign preferences? It might be a printer driver problem, I suppose. But I can't think of what could the issue here, sorry!
David BlatnerKeymasterHow are you making these lines? Are they actually paths, stroked with a dashed line? Or dots in a font, as Gert was thinking?
What happens if you try printing the PDF from Acrobat instead of printing from InDesign?
I've never heard of this problem; it's pretty weird!
David BlatnerKeymasterIn the regular Text tab of the Find/Change dialog box, you should be able to search for ^X (which means “next page number”) and replace with (^X)
No?
I found that code by clicking on the little @ menu to the right of the field and choosing Markers > Next Page Number
Does that work for you?

David BlatnerKeymasterYou might also try the the IndexMatic script from indiscripts, or the indexing features in Sonar from Virginia Systems.
I did a video about the older free version of indexmatic at lynda.com at this link.

David BlatnerKeymasterThat is very strange that it is affecting new documents. That should not be happening! You may have to rebuild your preferences to fix that.
I don't know if there is a way to change a document from right-to-left to left-to-right, but if there is, it would be one of the features in World Tools. See this page:
David BlatnerKeymasterIf you are going to be printing this document, check with your commercial printer to see what dot gain they recommend. If it's grayscale mostly for screen display (not sure why you'd do that), I'd probably go for gamma 2.2.

David BlatnerKeymasterSounds like you need a mask. Easiest way is to cut the object to clipboard, then draw a frame, and choose Edit > Paste Into.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt sounds as though you're running into the Tabbed Documents feature. You can documents apart by dragging their tabs at the top (just like a web browser). If you have the Application Bar open (from the Window menu), you can also select one of the icons in the Arrange Documents popup menu to set your documents up side by side or in a grid or whatever. You can also use the features in the Window > Arrange menu to set up more than one document separately.
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, if that is the only file you have, you definitely don't have anything editable.
You can convert PDFs to editable InDesign files with the commercial third-party add-on PDF2ID from recosoft.com
David BlatnerKeymasterAlso, I would think that you could assign the paragraph styles in a cell style, then (after applying the cell style) choose Clear Attributes Not Defined by Style in the Cell Styles panel menu. Hm. Haven't tried it yet, but it seems like that could work.
David BlatnerKeymasterWeird! I would suggest rebuilding your preferences to see if that helps:
David BlatnerKeymasterThat actually sounds really strange. I have no idea what “open and close it with a pdf script” means.
Open the Links panel (from the Window menu). Does it show a bunch of PDFs or other graphics? Maybe with Red warning symbols next to them (indicating missing graphics)?
David BlatnerKeymasterNot sure what the script is supposed to do. Does this article help?
