David BlatnerKeymasterThis is always a tricky thing in InDesign. Do you want to take her changes and automatically update them in InDesign? That’s hard; depends a lot on how the calendar was made. Not sure if something like WordsFlow from emsoftware.com can do that. Hm.
David BlatnerKeymasterArgh… I think I responded to this but then the forum had a hiccup again. Server issues today.
I don’t know what the widget.sdk plug-in could be. Have you upgraded to CC 9.2 (the newest update)?
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s interesting, Glenn. Yes, each time I open the Numbering & Sections dialog box, the checkbox is on. However, I think ID is doing that just to be helpful, because if you opened the dialog box, you probably want to turn it on.
You can see if there really is a section start on a page because there will be a small black triangle immediately above the page thumbnail in the Pages panel. Page 1 always has one, of course.
The inserted pages joining the current spread may be the “Allow pages to shuffle” features in the Pages panel menu. Those should be on if you want to add pages and have ID automatically shuffle the left and right pages (so you only have one left and one right per spread).
David BlatnerKeymasterWhat kind of help do you need? There is no good automatic way to do this. (There are some ways to manage it with liquid layout tools, but those are likely overkill for what you need.)
David BlatnerKeymasterJustin, you could probably use a grep code like
(\d)(\(\d)and replace it with$1 $2.As for combining the numbers… perhaps just merge cells? Or, convert the table to text, then replace that tab with a space, then convert back to a table?
David BlatnerKeymasterSorry, we had a Forum Failure Moment, and lost a couple hours of forum posts. Just replied to himself earlier this morning:

Also I would like to know if there is a way of having a set of figures in one column and a set in the next column combining 2 columns to have the numbers 111 (222) in one column. I am copy pasting from Excel.
This would save a lot of time in my project. Thanks
Hoping for a super move!
David BlatnerKeymasterNellie, you can do both book-wide and document-wide table of contents. For the book, put the TOC in a “front matter” chapter in the book panel. In the layout > table of contents dialog box, turn on the “include book” checkbox.
For the document-wide TOC, just make a new TOC and leave that checkbox off.

For clarification, each chapter is a separate .indd file inside a book. I had created a single text frame for the chapter’s TOC at the top of each chapter.indd but was unable to establish how I would create multiple text frames that extend across each chapter file. Suggestions for an solution would be appreciated!
David BlatnerKeymasterHI Chris, sorry I didn’t see your reply.
1. I think you could do that by setting the leading on the line (with the inline object) to Auto
2. Umm…. the only thing I can think of is to make that triangular section a separate object, not part of the bubble. Tricky.January 22, 2014 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Select multiple words? Good at laying out Textbook content in indesign? #66772
David BlatnerKeymasterSounds like a good use for the Nested Styles feature.
David BlatnerKeymasterOh drat, you’re right. Sorry about that. I have had trouble with InDesign this week and wasn’t able to launch it, so I was going off (faulty) memory.
The answer is “no” but there are some more posts to read here:
and
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s an option in the paragraph style definition dialog box; I think under the Type or Advanced Type panes. No?
David BlatnerKeymasterNo, InDesign isn’t that smart. You might be able to do it with something like https://exportools.badiasoftware.com
David BlatnerKeymasterCould be the Snow Leopard thing… Adobe says Creative Cloud app requires: Mac OS X v10.7, v10.8, or v10.9
David BlatnerKeymasterYou probably need to put a backslash-b before and after the code, to signify a word boundary, such as
