David BlatnerKeymasterAre you printing from InDesign or from Acrobat? Or some other PDF reader? You cannot really control how someone else will print the PDF. My guess is that there’s some setting in your print dialog box, or the printer driver that is causing it to change size.
David BlatnerKeymasterThomas, when we moved to this new system, a lot of the URLs got messed up. I just edited and fixed the URL in Jongware’s post above. But glad you found it!
David BlatnerKeymasterHey Matt! I did a little video about alternative database publishing options in my lynda.com course on data merge. Two suggestions I mentioned are: EasyCatalog from 65bit.com, and DesignMerge from meadowsps.com
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m pretty biased, but I think it will definitely help. The features are mostly the same, but I think the best part of the book are the “how to study” and “how to take the exam” sections. Mike really did a great job on that. Once you have that, then it’s just a matter of knowing the program pretty darn well.
David BlatnerKeymasterAre you using InDesign CC or a CC subscription to CS6? If so, then I don’t think deactivation is an option; I think you just sign out.
David BlatnerKeymasterNope, I’ve not heard of that, but I’m going to gently suggest that an InDesign forum might not be the best place to find an answer to this kind of technical question. :-)

David BlatnerKeymasterWhat happens if you right-click on the folder in the Scripts panel and choose Reveal in Finder (or Explorer)? Can you get to the folder more easily? Remember that you need to put scripts inside the Scripts Panel folder, not the Scripts folder.
David BlatnerKeymasterThis is why it is always good to add or remove an even number of pages. It is a long frustration.
There is one possible solution here:

David BlatnerKeymasterYou’re saying that the local override on the paragraph is wiped out when you synch? And it’s just the Keep Options? That is pretty odd. Anyone else seen this?
David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t know of any specific groups for long document users. It’s more general than that. There’s the forum here, the Adobe forum, and the InDesign Talk google group mailing list, which I think you can find the link for here: https://creativepro.com/membership-faq
March 24, 2014 at 1:39 pm in reply to: copy/paste issue of text frames (with copy) from one file to another #67731
David BlatnerKeymasterI have seen this. This can happen for a number of reasons, including:
https://creativepro.com/beware-basic-styles.phpBut sometimes it’s very mysterious. Try clicking inside the frame in the original document and doing something to cause text reflow (see https://creativepro.com/force-text-reflow-when-indesign-forgets-to-flow-the-text.php). Sometimes your old document is stuck in an old reflow state and doing this makes it reflow to the newest algorithm (which may or may not be what you want).
David BlatnerKeymasterI see what you mean. You may want to look at some of the other database publishing tools out there. I talk about one in my LDC title: InData (from emsoftware.com). There are other, even more robust options, such as DesignMerge from Meadows or EasyCatalog from 65bit.com
Or, you could also try assigning paragraph styles to this using InDesign Tagged Text.
David BlatnerKeymasterSounds like a great job for Data Merge. I have a title about Data Merge at lynda.com and there are also many articles about data merge here on our site (search for data merge in the search field)
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, Adobe made an about-face on this… very frustrating.
Now (in CC 9.2, which was released in January), InDesign on both Mac and Windows I believe, just reverses out the text — like it used to do in CS6 and earlier. No way to change the highlight color.
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, placed INDD files update just like graphics — they act almost exactly like placing a PDF file. But even better: You can option-double-click one (or Edit > Edit Original) and it will open the original INDD file so you can edit it. Then save and close, and it updates immediately.
As for TOC: No… that would be cool. But no. You would have to fake that with something like this trick: https://creativepro.com/creating-and-advertiser-index-or-other-difficult-toc.php
