David BlatnerKeymasterWe’ve discussed word clean up issues in several articles, including:
https://creativepro.com/clear-text-overrides-from-word-files.php
and
https://creativepro.com/import-word-files-into-indesign-remove-local-formatting-but-keep-italics-and-bold.php
David BlatnerKeymasterI like using the right indent tab: Type > Insert Special Character > Other > Right Indent Tab. I’ll write that up in another blog post soon. :)
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m not sure what could be going wrong. I just wrote up how I do this, as I’m sure other people find this confusing, too:
https://creativepro.com/adding-prefixes-page-numbers-indesign.phpIs the solution in there somewhere? If not, I supposed there’s a possibility that one or more of your documents have become corrupted, or other weirdness might have gotten into the system.
David BlatnerKeymasterThat is very strange, then. Can you explain what you mean by “it will duplicate numbers” (I don’t see duplicate numbers in your example)
David BlatnerKeymasterHow did you do the 1. prefix part? Did you use the Prefix feature in the Section and Page Numbering Options dialog box?
David BlatnerKeymasterIt might help a little bit to make sure you’re using the same font, but you could test that even more easily just using a font that is already everywhere, such as Georgia or Verdana. However, it will not change the problem with text wrap (how the words break from one line to the next).
This is one of the reasons Adobe invested so much in the Text Layout Framework:
https://www.adobe.com/devnet/tlf.html
But that is Flash-only. So it doesn’t really help with HTML.Doing high-quality text flow is calculation intensive, and HTML isn’t fully suited for it. There is plenty of work being done to help HTML, but it’s slow going. For example, Google just shot down the CSS Regions and CSS Exclusions project that adobe had been spearheading. https://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2010/11/adobes-enhancing-webkit-for-better-typography.html
David BlatnerKeymaster“InDesign in it’s nature was not designed to be creating HTML Emails” –> Truer words were never said.
The “pixel perfect iPad” things you’re talking about are like taking the entire page and exporting as PNG or JPEG (file > export). The whole page is a picture. But not where some of it is a png and some is live editable text.
David BlatnerKeymasterWow. If you can get html emails out of InDesign, I want to see that solution! :)
But going back to your original post: There is no way to make live text wrap the same in HTML as it does in InDesign. Just ain’t gonna’ happen. InDesign has a very sophisticated text wrap algorithm and far more typographic formatting than is available in HTML.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou need to look at in5 from ajarproductions.com

David BlatnerKeymasterEna: Actually, option #1 is probably better even when making a TOC. You would simply put both level 3 paragraph styles in the TOC definition, both at the same TOC level. Then both/either will be included, as discussed here: https://creativepro.com/three-small-toc-tricks.php
David BlatnerKeymasterI know that this company has some ACE exam tests, but I have not seen them myself: https://www.examaids.com

David BlatnerKeymasterI have a solution for this. Kind of a hack, but it works. I’ll write it up shortly.
David BlatnerKeymasterI think that exists as a javascript also, no?
And of course, there is also this script: https://creativepro.com/zanelli-releases-multipageimporter-for-importing-both-pdf-and-indd-files.php
David BlatnerKeymasterDo the javascripts work? Or only the vbscripts?
