David BlatnerKeymasterThe alt- number pad shortcuts are a Windows thing, not an InDesign thing.
Remember that you have to turn on the Num Lock key to make the work, I believe.Looks like other folks have had trouble with it, too:

David BlatnerKeymasterI haven’t heard of anything specifically about that. Are you trying to run any scripts on import? Perhaps something there is failing?
David BlatnerKeymasterThanks, Andy!
David BlatnerKeymasterI just made a story with 30,000 characters and 850 en spaces, with the same grep style as you, and it did not slow down Story Editor.
I wonder what else the problem could be? Have you tried rebuilding the document using IDML?
David BlatnerKeymasterThat’s curious. Normally, a grep style should not (and does not) affect the story editor. Maybe it was the particular grep style? Just one grep style or a lot of rules?
David BlatnerKeymasterYou are asking a question that people have asked for 25 years! Often RGB images in Photoshop look far more exciting and saturated than an image printed from InDesign. Usually it is just the conversion to CMYK. But how images get converted (using what options) makes a big difference.
David BlatnerKeymasterI do not have an answer for you (perhaps someone else here does), but I will say that this is the kind of information that developers will be talking about at The Creative Developers Summit in Chicago next month ( https://pepcon.com/creativedevsummit.html )
David BlatnerKeymasterjustification is really an aesthetic task, so it’s hard to give suggestions. That said, I find Calibri always too “open/loose.” So I would change the settings in the paragraphs style to something like
Wordspacing 80/95/133
Letterspacing -3/-2/0
Glyph scaling 98/100/102
David BlatnerKeymasterVideo is really hard to manage. Here’s a little bit of info on it https://creativepro.com/picking-the-best-video-format-for-digital-publishing.php
Perhaps Media Encoder or some other tool can help you keep the file size down.

David BlatnerKeymasterAndy: Right… choose Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts, then choose Panel menus from the Product Area pop-up menu, then choose Paragraph: World-Ready, and then assign a keyboard shortcut to it.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt’s so hard to know what’s going on. Make sure you have backups (do a Save As every now and again, so you can go back to earlier versions if things go wrong). You can try to save (or export) to an IDML file, then open that IDML file… this often clears up weirdness and corruption that might have snuck in and is causing problems. It’s also possible that the objects themselves are locked on the page. (Try choosing object > unlock all.)
David BlatnerKeymasterWhere were you reading about merging tables?
Check out this solution, but before you try the tagged text technique, read all the comments:
