David BlatnerKeymasterI don’t think there is any way to do this with the automatic list feature.
One idea comes to mind: perhaps use a font that has italic letters but non-italic parentheses (I don’t know if there is such a font, but you could always make one).August 11, 2016 at 3:23 pm in reply to: Placed PNG with transarency causes entire spread to look low quality? #87382
David BlatnerKeymasterI cannot replicate this problem. If you’re using a new version of InDesign CC, then perhaps try turning off GPU rendering:
https://creativepro.com/gpu-support-and-animated-zoom-arrives-for-mac.phpBut, more to the point, I do not think PNG with transparency is a good file format to use with InDesign. I strongly suggest saving as PSD from Photoshop.

David BlatnerKeymasterI can’t replicate the problem, Matt. Does this happen for you on all documents (even new ones), or just the doc with the styles you’re using?
David BlatnerKeymasterMissing fonts are usually highlighted in pink (sometimes called the “dreaded pinkness”)
Light blue (cyan) is probably local formatting… see: https://creativepro.com/why-is-my-indesign-text-highlighted-in-blue.php
David BlatnerKeymasterThere are a ton of resources on this page:
https://creativepro.com/resources/grep
It sounds like you need to use a “positive lookahead”
David BlatnerKeymasterDo you mean graphic design or learning how to do layout? We have some books listed here: https://creativepro.com/resources/books-and-videos
But those are more “production” type books (like how to use InDesign).
David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, that looks pretty bad. Acrobat is just confused and doesn’t know how to display it correctly. Perhaps you could change the paragraph style, so that it has no stroke when you make the proofing PDF, and then add the stroke on when you make a PDF for print?
David BlatnerKeymasterRobert: Wow, that doesn’t really have anything to do with this Forum thread, but: it sounds as though perhaps either your InDesign Preferences have become corrupted, or something has gone wrong with InDesign itself. I would suggest first quitting and relaunching InDesign, or restarting your computer. If that doesn’t work, try rebuilding your prefs (this post has a link to how to do that:https://creativepro.com/resources/faq )
and if that doesn’t work, then try uninstalling and re-installing InDesign.
David BlatnerKeymasterYes, DTP Cloud is a subscription. So Blatner Tools for CC is only available for subscription. (Adobe changing to the subscription model for CC has made it very difficult for plug-in developers to offer their tools without a subscription, also. So a number of plug-in developers, such as DTP Tools and Teacup Software now offer their tools via subscription only.)
David BlatnerKeymasterJohn: I’m not sure why your forum post was marked for moderation, but I just got it published now.
I’m also not sure why you’re having the problems you’re having. You’re sure that it’s only with images? Not on pages with no images?
David BlatnerKeymasterMy guess is that there is “local” formatting on that page. Each page can have its own page size and dimensions, with the Page Tool.
David BlatnerKeymasterHi tabaholic: Actually I believe that feature in Blatner Tools works in CC… to get Blatner Tools for CC, you need “DTP Cloud” https://www.dtptools.com/product.asp?id=dcid
I don’t know of any other script menus for InDesign, but perhaps someone else can chime in with suggestions?
David BlatnerKeymasterAlso, check the Layers panel and see what the “color” of the layer is. Each layer has a color, and that’s the color of the selection handles.

David BlatnerKeymasterYou may need to rebuild your preferences file, as explained in that article or here: https://creativepro.com/resources/faq
