I guess my thought was that you could use that script and then search for the forced line breaks (shift-returns) and insert the tabs or convert to hard returns.

Extra pages of what? Additional text that isn’t in the InDesign file? That would be very strange. Perhaps it’s text that is overset in InDesign (text that won’t fit in the text frame)?

It’s not as straightforward as you would hope.

That does sound pretty terrible. My suggestion would be to try to log in to a different account on your computer (like a guest account or just create a new user, then log in there). See if the problem still happens there. If not, then it’s probably something else on your system.

If it still happens, then it’s probably one of those plug-ins, or a bad font, or something like that.
