David BlatnerKeymasterCan you see this “grid” (the vertical lines of light and dark) in the PDF that you export? Or is it only when you print it?
It is possible that the PDF export settings are affecting the image. Perhaps you should use Zip instead of JPEG compression, or change the jpeg compression amount when exporting to PDF from InDesign?
David BlatnerKeymasterthere is a little triangle above the heading “Link Info”. If you click that, it should open the Link Info area. If it’s open but just blank… well, make sure something is selected in the Links panel…?
David BlatnerKeymasterThere is nothing trivial or figureoutable (great word) about XML, especially when it comes to InDesign. I don’t have an answer for you, unfortunately, but I just want you to know that XML is designed primarily as a way to encourage more sales of ibuprofen and other headache medicines.
One option: do a find/change after you place to clean it up.
David BlatnerKeymasterSWOP is a very specific standard for a web offset press (like what people print large-run magazines on). I do not recommend using SWOP as a standard.
Most printers will calibrate to Gracol or Fogra standards. I’d ask the printer if they’re calibrated to one of those.
David BlatnerKeymasterSure, you should talk with Luis Felipe Corullón:

David BlatnerKeymasterHere’s another good solution: https://www.id-extras.com/products/quickresize/
David BlatnerKeymasterRaphael: The hardest part is to set up the Liquid Layout rules… the new Adjust Layout feature in CC 2019 can help a lot, though!
The key piece of information you need to figure out is: How much time (and therefore money) would you save. You cannot expect a complicated script like this for free, I think. If you have a budget of “three or four figures” then let us know, and scripters may be more willing to jump in. :-)
David BlatnerKeymasterShortcuts can only be on a number keypad… yes, that is a frustrating limitation:

David BlatnerKeymasterYes, character styles can apply a font without style (or vice versa). Just leave the fields blank that you want InDesign to ignore.
And I’m not sure what the problem is with Command-Shift-I… that works for me:
David BlatnerKeymasterThe best options are:
1. Export the entire book as a PDF (from the book panel menu… deselect all items in the book panel first, to export all of them)
2. Place all the INDD documents into another “master” INDD file. (Yes, you can place an InDesign document into another InDesign document, and it acts like a graphic)

David BlatnerKeymasterHi Pat, there is very little documentation about QR codes anywhere on the planet… My guess is that this is either not possible, or would require some information from an engineer at Adobe. Have you tried the Adobe InDesign forum?

David BlatnerKeymasterWell, it’s funny that you should bring this up because no, there has surprisingly not been a particularly good solution for laying out photo books like this… but I have been developing one. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will be finished in the next couple of months. However, I have a partly-working solution that you might be able to play with.
Tell me: What page size are you working with? (The template I’m creating is 12″x12″ at the moment.)
That said, there are some other tools and scripts out there. I haven’t used these scripts, but they look cool: https://wrwetzel.com/photobooktools/index.html

David BlatnerKeymasterYou are on the cutting edge of InDesign! The content collector and linking placed documents is not well documented or supported, especially across multiple docs.
These articles may or may not help:

David BlatnerKeymasterIan: Oh, sure! You could definitely make a couple master pages with different layouts. I thought you were trying to automate it (like import all the images at once).
