David BlatnerKeymasterAre you using CC 2019? If so, did you try this?

David BlatnerKeymasterPR: Are you getting that same error? Here are the original articles:

and

David BlatnerKeymasterYes, different fonts take up different amounts of space, so this is a common problem that you are describing. One solution is to apply Auto-Size to the Text Frame (in Object > Text Frame Options) so that the frame expands automatically.

David BlatnerKeymasterYou want the outline to be smaller than the numbers? Not bigger?
InDesign is not the best tool for this. Illustrator is probably better at creating offset paths for stickers. But the “offset path” script might help, which you can download here: https://indesignsecrets.com/indesign-cad-tool.php
David BlatnerKeymasterLatin is easy… you just hyphenate it the way it was originally pronounced. (Sorry, bad joke…) ;-)
InDesign doesn’t come with Latin dictionaries, but MindSpell might help:

David BlatnerKeymasterHere’s a video of how I would handle much of this challenge:
See the notes under the video to download an IDML file with the styles I used, etc.
David BlatnerKeymasterWeb measurements always need to be specified in pixels, and resolution does not matter. At all. 970 pixels at 72ppi is exactly the same thing as 970 pixels at 300 ppi.
David BlatnerKeymasterCan you explain what you’re trying to do? Are you making a web banner or something? Or is this for print? If it’s print, you should be working with real measurements, not pixels.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can link Excel spreadsheets to InDesign tables with the “create links when placing” feature in the File Handling pane of the Preferences dialog box. However, it’s tricky. There’s also the “flow” plug-ins from Em Software, which we talked about here:
https://indesignsecrets.com/import-word-documents-edit-in-word-and-indesign-and-keep-linked-for-updating.phpBut most people who want this kind of thing want more features/flexiblity, and so they use a tool like DataLinker from Teacup Software or one of the catalog tools, such as EasyCatalog from 65bit or Extreme from Cacidi.com
More here on linking though:

David BlatnerKeymasterIn these kinds of situations, the resolution doesn’t matter. If it’s a 970 x 300 pixel image and a 970 x 300 pixel InDesign document, then to make the pixels line up, the image has to be at 72 ppi.
That is, InDesign documents are always 72 ppi under the hood.
David BlatnerKeymasterOpen the document and then check preferences. Make sure it’s turned off. Then try doing a Save As. Does that help?
If not, then consider exporting the file as IDML and then opening the IDML file, then saving.August 15, 2019 at 9:50 am in reply to: HOW TO: automate chat Layout with text from .txt file #14324301
David BlatnerKeymasterHey Jeremy, I think the text-to-image thing could be handled with a free script (there are several), but I think many of his other needs can actually be done pretty easily with Find/Change and so on. It depends a lot on the actual design he needs.
