David BlatnerKeymasterHard to know, but sometimes weird stuff creeps in. Here are some articles that might help:

David BlatnerKeymasterThank you, Sol!
Is it this video? https://www.linkedin.com/learning/indesign-secrets/356-numbering-items-in-a-diagram
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Mike… sorry the Adobe forums are down, but we don’t really support Photoshop on InDesignSecrets. :-)
Good luck getting it installed!
David BlatnerKeymasterI think there is a script here on indesignsecrets somewhere that turns on the clipping paths for all images in a document… not sure where to find it, though. Would take some searching.
David BlatnerKeymasterI think it’s awesome that you care about making the text look good like that. While optical margin alignment (OMA) only works at the margin edge, one way to do this would be to use a table instead of a tab. Just make 2 columns… 1 with the number and 1 with the clue. OMA works in table cells.
David BlatnerKeymasterWow, that is very strange. And it happens even if you delete all but one of your pages, and then start over?
David BlatnerKeymasterYou can use GREP find/change or GREP Styles to do this. For example, you could use
(?<=:).+?\?(that finds all the text after the colon, and including the question mark.October 30, 2019 at 10:32 am in reply to: Catalina and the change from ESTK to Visual Studio Code + Extendscript Debugger #14323826
David BlatnerKeymasterNo, I don’t think there’s much of a chance that Adobe will change their mind and update ESTK. That’s old technology to them.
Peter wrote a very good book about JavaScript in InDesign, which you can find here: https://indesignsecrets.com/shop
David BlatnerKeymasterI wonder if Barcode maker can do it?

David BlatnerKeymasterMichel is a pro scripter in France, and sees the world through a very cool lens of “everything can be automated with scripts!” He is right, that there are much better ways to do this, through scripting.

David BlatnerKeymasterHi Tim! You should know by now that nothing involving numbering in InDesign is going to be as easy as we hope. ;-)
One option is text variables, but I think that’s not efficient for part numbers:
https://indesignsecrets.com/linking-numbers-in-a-list-to-numbers-on-an-image.phpThe best option is probably x-refs… remember you can format the cross-reference to show just the number!

David BlatnerKeymasterMy guess is it’s a style name issue:
https://indesignsecrets.com/beware-basic-styles.phpOctober 25, 2019 at 8:41 am in reply to: Cross References still point to original document #14323866
David BlatnerKeymasterThis is a book file with multiple InDesign documents? Yeah, hyperlinks from one document to another is VERY clunky in InDesign. One of the many reasons I recommend people creating books in a single INDD file (and not use the book feature) when possible.
David BlatnerKeymasterIt is a kind of crazy, advanced technique and does not always work. Keep backups!

David BlatnerKeymasterDefinitely scriptable. But the hard part is figuring out what the dependencies would be. Like, what does it mean for one swatch to be based on another?
