December 3, 2019 at 3:45 pm in reply to: How I make it easier to see most important styles in panel with tons of them #14323635
David BlatnerKeymasterTwo things:
I encourage you to learn how to use Quick Apply for applying styles. It’s awesome!
Also, InDesign 2020 offers the ability to use other keyboard shortcuts for styles (though you have to avoid shortcuts that are currently in use by the app)
David BlatnerKeymasterWe probably need more information here. Did you get the newest version (see link below)? Mac vs Windows? What error?

David BlatnerKeymasterYou might try exporting as a regular CMYK PDF and then using Convert Color in Acrobat.
More info here (and in the comments):

David BlatnerKeymasterDid you turn on the Balance Columns checkbox in Object > Text Frame Options?
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m guessing you need to turn on “allow document pages to shuffle” and also select the spread and choose “allow selected spread to shuffle” in the Pages panel menu.

David BlatnerKeymasterMultiple indexes is not easy in InDesign. Here’s one article from a long time ago:

David BlatnerKeymasterWhat do you see wrong in this image?
David BlatnerKeymasterNope. That requires two different paragraph styles. Someday I hope we’ll get that feature!
I just added this to Uservoice… please vote for it!

David BlatnerKeymasterBarry: that link doesn’t appear to work without permissions. You probably need to change the sharing settings in google drive.
David BlatnerKeymasterAh! Interesting. I’ve never seen a template for something like that. One idea is to create the page normally, and then select everything and rotate it to the angle you want.
David BlatnerKeymasterStrange! Maybe something in the Generate Index dialog box… some incorrect character?
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m not sure what you mean by “diagonal grid.” Do you have examples you can share?
David BlatnerKeymasterSorry about that… it was held for moderation for some reason. Cleared now.

David BlatnerKeymasterThat script is awesome.
Another option is to put 2 graphic frames on a master page, and set them to object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options to “Fit Proportionally”
Then you can go back to the document page. Choose File > Place, select the PDF, and turn on Show Import Options. Choose to import all the pages from the PDF. Now you just need to click on the first frame, then the second, then press command-shift-P (or ctrl-shift-P) to add a new page, and then click-click again, and keep repeating that. It’s monotonous, but it’ll only take about 5 minutes.
David BlatnerKeymasterWow! That’s fascinating. Good sleuthing, Anne-Marie!
