David BlatnerKeymasterYou can put it in the bleed area or the slug area, but I I typically use a slug area because the bleed area is too small.
However, note that if you have set up your trifold as 3 pages on a single spread, then you can just use the regular crop marks when making a PDF, and InDesign will draw the folder marks for you.

David BlatnerKeymasterStrange, but not entirely surprising: The Preview app has never been fully accurate for PDFs. For 15 years, whenever people have complained that they have any problem with reading InDesign Magazine, we respond: are you using Preview? If so, try using Acrobat!
December 22, 2019 at 7:09 am in reply to: Place Excel Table on multiple pages. Full table on one, just one cell on another #14323399
David BlatnerKeymasterDoes it work to use Show Import Options to just import that one cell? See:
https://indesignsecrets.com/easier-import-of-complex-excel-spreadsheets.php
David BlatnerKeymasterYour Numbering & Section Options dialog box might be set up incorrectly at the beginning of each document or section. Check that.
If you are using a book panel, also read this:

David BlatnerKeymasterMight be possible to automate some of this with Data Merge.
David BlatnerKeymasterGlad my writing has been helpful for you! Thanks for being a member of the InDesignSecrets community.

David BlatnerKeymasterWhat do you mean by “export” the images? Are they embedded in the file?
David BlatnerKeymasterThere’s a new feature in InDesign 2020 that allows data merge to honor Frame Fitting Options.

David BlatnerKeymasterI think Balance Columns will help for that:

David BlatnerKeymasterYeah, a drop cap forces the leading to stay consistent for that one paragraph. I can’t think of a workaround, sorry.
December 15, 2019 at 8:51 am in reply to: Script to fit text box to text to balance columns via vertical juistifcation #14323449
David BlatnerKeymasterI’m not sure what you mean. People typically use either vertical justification or fit-to frame, not both. You can use Auto-Size. Or you can use object > fitting > fit frame to content.
https://indesignsecrets.com/allow-your-frames-to-resize-with-your-text.php
David BlatnerKeymasterWell InDesign 2020 now allows any keyboard shortcuts for styles (as long as they’re not being used by some other feature in the program).
Also, you can (and should!) use Quick Apply!
https://indesignsecrets.com/fast-editing-styles-via-quick-apply.php
David BlatnerKeymasterSorry about that! Please see our announcement here: https://indesignsecrets.com/topic/spam-emails-from-indesignsecrets-forums
David BlatnerKeymasterThat sounds odd to me… the reader software shouldn’t be seeing anything inside those PDF files. Have you tagged each of the with Alt text using Object > Object Export Options?
December 12, 2019 at 8:38 am in reply to: GREP to find parentheses touching italic text even if they are not italic? #14323576
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Olaf, sorry your forum comment got lost in the moderation queue. Weird. Did you get an answer already?
Yeah, there’s still no great way to do this. I think someone (Peter Kahrel?) had a script that would convert formatting to tags, and then you could run a grep find/change, and then it would swap it back to formatted text, but now I can’t find it.
I did write up something that might help, here:
