David BlatnerKeymasterIt’s a little unclear to me what you’re trying to do. If you have an example, feel free to post a photo on a sharing site, such as dropbox or Imgur and then post the link here.
However, yes, “Rule Below” means “below the paragraph” not every line.
Here’s an old post about putting a rule below every line in a paragraph:

David BlatnerKeymasterHi Ivan. Are you talking about the Tables Super Guide? The only people who received it for “free” were people who paid for a premium subscription during a short promotion we had last year.
We love providing information for the InDesign community, and we have literally thousands of free articles and tutorials and resources here on InDesignSecrets! But we do need to charge money for “premium” content, books, and some things, because we are a small business and we need to cover our expenses.
David BlatnerKeymasterFirst character of what?

David BlatnerKeymasterThanks, Raphael! Yes, that is the one that Keith mentioned in his article on scripts for long documents (requires premium membership):

David BlatnerKeymasterThese posts might help:

and

David BlatnerKeymasterI responded to Kay’s query on the Private Member forum, too… I’ll just copy and paste that response here:
InDesign is not really built for real-time collaboration, like Google Docs. InCopy could help with the text parts. But the tool I like most for this is LayoutZone from Automatication: https://automatication.com/index.php?id=13
Basically you convert sections of a spread, or a whole page or spread to a layout zone (which is just an InDesign document). Then other people can work on that document, and it’s linked back to the master doc. When the file is updated, you just click Update in the Links panel of the master document, and you get the new version. When you’re done, you have the option to convert the zone back into editable InDesign objects in the master doc.
It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty much magic.
David BlatnerKeymasterYou might be able to do this by hiding/showing different objects…? But I cannot think of how to do that in InDesign. Maybe it is possible in Acrobat, with some clever scripting or controls?

David BlatnerKeymasterPNG and AI are very different, so yes, of course they will create a different file size. I wrote up some suggestions here:
https://indesignsecrets.com/tiff-vs-psd-vs-eps-vs-pdf-vs.php
David BlatnerKeymasterUm… this is strange… a duplicate? Spam?
I don’t think there is anything to that rumor.
David BlatnerKeymasterGreat question! This is tricky… see the field with the “i” icon next to it? That’s the “space between paragraphs using same style” setting. Try changing it to “Ignore”
David BlatnerKeymasterHi Rick! I’m not sure the formatting you used in your examples came across the way you intended… you might need to put “pre” tags around stuff you want to be unformatted.
But you’re saying that the 2nd and subsequent H1 heads are nested inside the first H1? That does seem strange. All documents? True when it’s just from a single INDD file (not a book)?
David BlatnerKeymasterI think the solution of grouping the two frames together is the best one. A group acts like a single object, so you can anchor that group in the text frame.
R Dol: I don’t think that will work, because Richard wants to make a stroke on top of the picture, not around the whole picture. (Like a circle that highlights a part of the picture.)
David BlatnerKeymasterYup, the ACE exams are pretty much defunct, as far as I can tell. Certiport now offers ACA exams, though!

David BlatnerKeymasterOne idea is to look in the Layers panel. If you have more than one layer, then when you select-all (cmd-a) match the color of the object with the layer color. Then click the triangle to the left of the layer and look for the object. Click the right column in the panel to select the object.
David BlatnerKeymasterMichel A. sent me a private msg with a brilliant workaround to do this! In the Strokes panel menu, choose Stroke Styles. Make a new Dash stroke that has a very long pattern length, no corners, and a dash the length you want. For example, here’s how you can get a stroke that is always 5p wide:

You can apply that custom stroke as a Rule Below. Thank you, Michel!
