MemberIs the alt text included in an IDML file? Do you need the remaining text translated also (i.e. the text that isn’t alt text) ?
Most translators can use IDML as an exchange format for their CAT (computer aided translation) tools.Chris.
Edit: answering my own question – apparently IDML isn’t an option:
I set up a test file, and my alt text didn’t appear in Wordfast Pro (the CAT tool that I use).

The Mac versions can’t do right-to-left, at least up to Word 2011.

MemberIf you want a one-click way to format the cell attributes and the attributes of the text within it… yes.
In the options for Cell Style > General, you can set a paragraph style to be automatically applied to the text within the cells that have this cell style. At least in CS6 you can.
Would that work? Most text formatting options are available via the Para style optionsChris.
MemberDon’t think so – table styles don’t offer you column widths.
You can reduce the pain a little by making the standard widths nice round numbers, then selecting column by column and typing those numbers in the column width box that appears either in the Table palette or in the top toolbar.It is possible to paste all the rows of one table into another table which already has the correct column widths (i.e. a template), but if yours are linked to a content management system, that doesn’t sound like an option.

Is there any different way to define the “rules” in which some words must be red?What format is the imported document? If it’s Word, you could try switching between doc and docx formats before importing. Maybe.

MemberSorry, can’t help with the actual problem, but I might be able to help others read it more easily:
ok i created a flier with the program indesign.
it only includes 9 pictures and 2 small boxes with text.
i export it to html with indesign built in css.
i then edit the html and copy and paste the css file info inside html because i am working with a real estate company and i am in the middle of an email blast,
but html code points to a css file in another location.
so i open up the css file added the info directly to the html,
and then i copy all the html code directly into constant contact and mailchimp.
they both preview just fine everything was in the correct order and appropriate shape and size.
but when i send a test email to my gmail account and hotmail account it look all out of order.
if i remove the css it all look out of order regardless
any help what exactly i am doing wrong ?

I was hoping for real-world first-hand experience from forum members, rather than the theoretical “not supported”, the standard response from the companies for OS versions later than a non-current software release.

What if you:
1. set up all of the the dictionary as a temporary table
2. apply the RTL to the relevant column as above
3. then convert the table back to text (using a space-slash-space for a column separator and carriage return for row separator)
4. and flow it into your 2-column pages– wouldn’t it keep the RTL settings on the former “Hebrew column”?

2. select column 3 and apply a suitable RTL character style.Chris.
MemberI can do it with CS6 and the ScribeDOOR plugin:
put the page numbering on the master page(s)
then format the master page numbers to use a suitable font
then in the ScribeDOOR panel, there’s an option for “Digits” which includes Arabic, Devanagari, Gujarati and many others.May also be possible with the In-Tools World Tools plugin.
However, I can’t find a suitable option in the “normal” InDesign menus or panels. I do have the World-Ready version of InDesign – it has Arabic and right-to-left options in the normal menus and panels, but has digit options only for a) Western 0123, b) Arabic-style (arqam hindiyya?) and c) Farsi.
And you can’t use the Alternate Glyphs in the Glyphs panel, as the page number symbol on the master page is an “A”!Hope that’s of some help,

Still not sure *why* you’d want to to this – if we understand why, it might point to a completely different solution.
And what happens with unusually long words. Would a combination of characters/words be a better basis for a calculation?Don’t know how to do it with a style though.
Maybe one of the script gurus will be along in a while to help out.
Chris.MemberDo you mean set it up so that there’s a new line (or new paragraph?) after X words? Where X is always the same number?
Does this technique leave you at the mercy of unusually long words?For what purpose? Could you give a bit more context?
Sorry, more questions instead of an answer, but I can’t think of a way to do what you’re describing in a style.
