MemberPerhaps it should just ignore text frames?

MemberIt appears the problem has been solved and the following has some limitations, but this 2010 post from Cari Jansen was fun to try: https://creativepro.com/vertical-master-page-spreads.php

MemberA bit later perhaps, and the utility has been around for a quite a while, but it continues to work in CC 2015 (at least what I need it to do). https://creativepro.com/page-exporter-utility-peu-5-script-updated-for-cs3.php

MemberThanks Luis, glad you got things worked out. I still need to fix another Mac, so I’ll be referring to your list.

MemberThe problem *seems* to be related to older custom workspace .xml files. It took uninstalling and reinstalling twice but saw the change after the first reinstall. The Layers panel worked correctly upon initial launch but switching to custom workspace (that had not been removed from the preferences even though I indicated that they should be removed during the uninstall routine) caused a repeat of the problem. After the second reinstall, I ensured the Layers panel was working correctly and saved the workspace as presented as a custom workspace. I then manually removed the old workspace .xml files (which had reappeared after the reinstall though weren’t there after the uninstall–yeah, I’m puzzled). Finally, I created a custom workspace to my liking and tested.
I should note a couple of other things. Trying to resolve the problem, I did a Java update which did nothing. The unaffected iMac has exactly the same video card but no custom InDesign workspaces. The reinstalls took care of a display issue (type cut off) in InDesign’s Preferences, specifically the Interface section. I doubt that fix can be attributed to the .xml file, but the Java update didn’t fix it either.
I still need to take a look at the second problem iMac….

MemberHello again.
I did run across a sizing script after poking around the scripts pages of the InDesign Secrets site for a while: https://github.com/jpobojewski/InDesign-Toolbox/blob/master/Resize%20Selected%20Items.jsx
So, you don’t necessarily need that Transform command.
It seems to work well, just set your reference point first, but Fit Content to Frame is applied to the images, so watch for non-proportional placement. The Scale Graphics script can quickly correct.
Selection of images is certainly the drawback here.

MemberMelinda, I did a quick but simple test and the Scale Graphics script ran fine on InDesign CC 2015.1.
I have a number of older scripts that keep chugging along. If you’re ever in doubt, just save a copy of your document elsewhere first.
Now the not-so-good news. I forgot that the SelectObjects script is not document-wide, and after some quick searches, it appears that it is not possible to select objects across spreads in any manner.
You can use Find/Change to get you the next spread with graphics, but I don’t think you gain much. Shift/Page Up or Shift/Page Down would get you through the document just as quickly.
I would do one thing, however, and that’s add a shortcut to Transform Sequence Again Individually. That will be a time saver.
So close…
Good luck

MemberJust to expand on David’s suggestion, you should be able to make use of the SelectObjects script that is already part of InDesign.
Then for the content, try the Scale Graphics script from In-Tools: https://in-tools.com/article/scripts-blog/scale-graphics-script/
(Too bad the latter can’t do everything for you.)
Good luck.

MemberHi Jeff,
I played around a little with this and found that INDD will remember the desired option if you first use a regular Place command, select “Show Import Options” in the dialog box, and choose your import option (do NOT use the Shift key method). The subsequent imports through the Place command or drag ‘n’ drop will continue to use the same import option.
I verified this by creating a PDF with marks then placing it as described above using Trim as an option. I then placed turning off the Show Import Options and not using the Shift key method either and it placed at Trim size. I then did the same with drag ‘n’ drop. I repeated the same three placements using Media and it worked like a charm.
Hope it works for you as well.

MemberPaul,
Did you try using three digits as Gert suggested? I renamed some test files using three digits and had no problem with the ordering.
I love this script and have been using my own slightly modified version for years. Here are some tips regarding contact sheets if you missed it: https://creativepro.com/the-ultimate-contact-sheet.php/comment-page-1
Check the comments section for my tip on how to define page size BEFORE running the script.

MemberDwayne’s font suggestion could be right on track. It’s been so long since it’s happened to me I had totally forgot about it. Old and/or cheap TT fonts can be problematic. If it is the fonts, you can find the culprit by loading one or two at a time.

MemberA bit pricey, but perhaps this is one approach: https://www.recosoft.com/products/pdf2id/
I’d be concerned that all backups were corrupt as well.

MemberThanks David. That’s what I thought.
For now it’s for proofing sheets that go a hair beyond a simple contact sheet. I’ll continue to Save As to another name and delete everything before assembling new sheets. I suppose a template file would work too.

MemberPhil, the front and back page need to be facing pages. When you set up your document it must start with an even number. You adjust from there. This video will show what I mean. I left the balance as reader spreads, but you may want to create printer spreads to print from a laser printer. https://screencast.com/t/j5FMwNlMov

In your case you would use “Visible in PDF but Doesn’t Print.”
