Bart Van de WieleMemberHi Craig,
Let me chip in. I work as a Sr. Solution Consultant for Adobe. It is not possible to transfer published Publish Online (PO) files to other accounts. These will remain associated with your account (read: the used account when publishing). Some other Creative Cloud features, like Libraries or files stored online, are shareable. But specific, product based, services like InDesign’s PO, Adobe XD’s PO, Typekit, Spark and others remain account based. Plus you don’t have the ability to download the actual HTML locally, or host the files on your own servers. I know, it would be awesome though …
The only workaround that you might be able to use is to create a dedicated Adobe ID e.g. publishonline@company.com and use that to publish and store your documents. In the end it’s only a matter of logging in, opening your ID file, and clicking publish. I know that this sounds tedious but it’s the only thing you can do. So in case your personal account ever gets pulled or changed, it won’t affect the published documents. You’ll always have access to those.
Officially, Adobe doesn’t allow you to share accounts between multiple users. So every user needs to have their dedicated account. But in this scenario I’m assuming the same user will be using the PO account.
Again, this solution works only if your business is relying heavily on this, otherwise it might not be worth the extra cost. Up to you to prioritise this. Also, remember there is a script to export your HTML from InDesign. Maybe you can use that to export the HTML and then host it yourself? Just thinking out loud here.

Good luck

Bart Van de WieleMemberMmmm … I’m afraid I’ll have to agree with Masood on this.
There are still a few glitches when working with book files it seems. E.g. using the “Last Page Number” text variable, that one also doesn’t pick up the last page number.

Bart Van de WieleMember@dburns: All the first tests seemed to work out just fine with the template. Have you ever encountered any problems in print or PDF? (just doublechecking).
So it IS possible with a different boot volume … hmm … maybe I should check that out.
Double checking the contents of the catalog shouldn't be a problem, I know a few native speakers and have about six years of experience with Japanese myself. ????????;-)

Bart Van de WieleMemberIt also says that it can't be done when indesign is installed, part of the creative suite. Only as a stand alone application.
Basicly this means: buy more software, get less support.
I tried the template from Diane, and that works great! I just hope I won't run into unexpected trouble in PDF (you never know). We have a possible catalogue layout job coming up, which is in Japanese. I know there are Japanese specific options in the J-version of Indesign, so it seems I can't get a hold of them.
David and Bob, thanks for the support ;)

Bart Van de WieleMemberI just find it a bit weird that Adobe presumes that no one, except native japanese speakers, will be doing layout in Japanese.
So you make your choice: english or japanese. There should at least be support for the japanese (or CJK) layout system. As a plugin, or update or whatever. This way, you have a choice. I mean Illustrator supports it, but not Indesign.

Bart Van de WieleMemberI just tried it on a different Mac, but no luck.
My mac already has several versions of Indesign, so I would have made sense why it didn't work. But the other mac (which only has CS4) had the same problem.
The installation message is in dutch, but it said
“can't continue with the installation, because indesign is already installed on this system. If you want to reinstall indesign, please use the installation setup used for your current Indesign”.
