Thank you so much, you’re a life saver!

    Thank you David.

I thought of that. Even tried it for certain documents but I really can’t work in this way.

Everyday I have the editor changing and adjusting pages. He’s unpredictable. Sometimes he comes up with extra pieces of paragraphs or wanting to reverse the order of things. If my document isn’t flowing through the stories, it is just not practical. It’d cause me setbacks. This is really annoying :(

Thank you dough for suggesting these options.

Can I ask you another thing? Out of curiosity, when designing a traditional book (only text, chapters/titles, no pictures, no charts, just plain text following through pages) would you align it to baseline grid?

I have always seen articles suggesting to align to baseline and I have always hesitated in doing so. Once I tried it and it came out as a disaster. I ran into the same problems. It seems again unpractical. Would you mind elaborating/sharing a bit over on this topic?

It is my dream to send it back if We had known the Designer who made it. I got this file from other company and this is an old book. We have to open it here to be able to make adjustments and send it for review and then I can print it.

Anyways. I really hope Adobe can come up with solutions down the road. This feature of packaging has been useless.

    Thank you for answering!

I don’t get it. Isn’t OTF a different file format than type 1? What do you mean type 1 BASED OTF?

We actually send this package to a person who owns a Mac, so we could see if that would help us if She generates the package again. We received the file today but we noticed the same problem persists. Most fonts that she have replaced, are in the documents fonts folder but still 0kb.

    Thanks for clarifying the ‘flavours’.

Ok, but it still not making any sense though.

OpenType fonts should work whether in Mac or Windows, right? In my project we do have OpenType font. So why can’t ID in my computer recognize them? And plus, they are fonts generated from the package, that means: I’m not looking for any other version of those fonts, I’m just trying to use the exactly same OpenType font that was generated from the packge. This drive me nuts.

I think the package doesn’t really work. It will only help you in certain circumstances or situations. I got projects where I’d just open and install fonts and it’s fine, but sometimes even the project coming from windows or mac and installing generated fonts, ID will accuse ‘font missing’.

    hey David, thanks!

    Let’s focus on fonts.

I haven’t tried to install them from Typekit. This could be a gap for me. I’ll see it.

    Now, this is really confusing.

    I got a print, look: https://allanmc.com.br/v5/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/what.jpg

    What do you think?

No, it isn’t the presentation mode, look:

I could change it going to the preference and checking match to the theme color, but I’m messing with my keyboard all the time.. I should know the shortcut that bring the default color back…

    Hey!

sorry for my delay…it’s the pasteboard, look:

I could change it going to the preferences but I’m messing with some shortcut that I’m getting this black all the time.

    thanks for replying though!

regard running headers, I got a problem too. I’ve tried with book feature, but I can only partially solve my problem.

Usually in my company we have to have a better use of the paper, so the problem is: as you guys talked, if I set master pages and lately make any changes, I got go throughout the doc to fix those pages that got out of order.

If I set master pages with book feature, I got the same problem because I never know in which page (odd or even) my chapter is going to be ended. So, If I set the next chapter to be started at odd page with master page and if I have to do any change in the previous chapter, consequentially master page will get out of order.

I can’t set either odd or even pages to be a master pages. Any thoughts that I could possibly solve this? is there any way to do that with variables maybe?

    Dwayne

thanks for sharing this, that’s great to me. It’s good to see how it works in other companies, I got curious though. Why they requires only one document only? Is it any special reason? maybe, that’s only rules?

in reply to: Book features vs single document discuss #97153

that’s what I exactly feeling in the last few projects. Unless i’m not working with thousand pics and chapters, i’m really considering to stick with only one document. Well.. that means.. rarely… cause regular books only contain text and couple images…
