    Hey Andre,

Here is a modified version of the script that also cleans up Object Styles.

Ohad, that does make it easier, I thought you were trying to isolate the second word, but that extra bit of information really helps. So depending on whether you want to place the anchored object before or after the space after the second word,

    before the space:

    Find: ^([^ ]+ [^ ]+)(?= )
    Replace: $1~c

    or after the space:

    Find: ^([^ ]+ [^ ]+ )
    Replace: $1~c

Let me know if that works or not for you.

That’s a tough one Ohad, there are many variables both before and after both the first and second words to account for, but this is what I came up with so far, it still doesn’t catch every second word but it’s a start.

    ^[^ ]+ \K\w+([’\w]+)?(?=[,])?

    Hey Steve,

This sounds like the in publication TOC link is referencing the id given to the title and not to the image you anchored above it. Personally I think the best way would probably be to unzip the ePub file and make sure all your TOC links are referencing the correct id’s given to each anchored image at the beginning of each chapter.

“I want to replace it by leaving the text in between the brackets but removing the brackets themselves,”

    Find: \(([^)]+)\)
    Replace: $1

“and another expression to replace the round brackets with square ones, in both cases the text is to be left as it is.”

    Find: \(([^)]+)\)
    Replace: [$1]

As you can see its the same GREP search, the only thing that changes is what you are putting in the replace field.

Hmm, I set everything as instructed, set the document to pixels (882px x 648px) but the layers converted to an insanely small spread size, like 15px wide and the alignment of everything is off, could this be that I am using bleed? (“4.5 Make sure all objects are placed exclusively on the artboard / page area – placing objects outside work area will impact scaling and position”) Also I noticed is that the script converts the full graphic used, so if you make a frame smaller to hide certain parts that I don’t need, the script automatically converts the entire graphic (hidden and visible) and adds it to the exported layer, not just what is visible in the frame, which defeats the purpose of why I have the frame smaller than the graphic (You instructions mention “4.3 Fit frame to text content for all text objects” but nothing about the frame for graphics). Anyway, that’s just some things I observed while testing your Applescript Applet.

It’s possible if you use a font manager such as FontExpolorer X Pro from LinoType or Suitcase Fusion from Extensis and separate them into folders by usage there, which I personally think is a better way to go about it since you dont have to have all your fonts loaded all the time, only when you need them.

    Hey Jerry,

That is unexpected to see the exported file size be that large, especially if the only image is the cover. Just wondering, you exported to reflowable ePub correct? I could see accidentally exporting to Fixed Layout ePub causing the file size to be exceptionally larger than normal.

    Hey Janis,

A lot of these errors are misplaced or missing quote marks, mislabeled id’s, scr’s or file names. The missing files are because the href’s in the OPF do not match the explicit file names you have in your folder (be it audio or images). Also removing the properties from your itemref’s will remove the undefined properties errors in the OPF (ePC 3.0.1), the rest (or a good majority) should be what I previously mentioned.

I’m using ePC 3.0.1 and probably don’t have the most extensive knowledge of EPUB3 with read aloud, but Ken could probably set me straight if anything I said was inaccurate or deviates from spec.

Anyway, I hope that helps clear up some of the errors on your end.

Yeah I think Ken is on the right track, and I think a screenshot of lines 93 to 97 of the code might also be a good alternative if you don’t necessarily want to post your entire book.

    Hey Dimitri,

You might try something like this to account for fewer or more numbers

    Find: (\d+)((?i)x|cm|mm)
    Replace: $1 $2

    Hey Melinda,

No you’re not going about it the wrong way, actually that’s a good use of GREP, try this

    Find: ([a-z])([a-z])
    Replace: $1 $2

You can always add more characters in the first capture group such as a closing parenthesis like you have in your sample to catch more characters before the hard return.

Nevermind, I figured it out. By just replacing strokeColor: 'Black', with strokeColor: myColorAdd(app.activeDocument, "Bookline", ColorModel.SPOT, [0,100,0,0]), it now does what I need it to :)

If you need to do simple corrections to the PDF, Acrobat does have some tools that allow for some editing, I dont know if I would rely on it for major fixes, but it works in a pinch.
