MemberThanks David – that's great. I'm just looking at the trial version.
Is there a way to thread all the text frames to create one continuous flow? Or is that another plugin?
Thanks again for your help.

MemberAnother thing for the folks at eDocker – the three day trial is just not long enough. At least with Flipping Book Publisher you can try it out with there being no rush (and in between projects).

MemberHi. I've just been trying out Flipping Book Publisher https://page-flip.com/ which seems very good and less clunky than eDocker https://www.prepress.fi/eDocker_eng/.
However, neither Flipping Book nor eDocker appear to be able to carry across any of the animations that one might create in InDesign. Is this at all possible for a page flip magazine type publication, not an ePub, tablet version as per the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite?
If not, seems a shame :(

MemberI've just ordered a Logitech Trackman Wheel. I'll let you all know how I go with that when I've used it a week or so. The one thing I like about my mouse is the wheel and the ability to zoom in and out holding Alt and scrolling the wheel up or down.
I don't regret buying the tablet, but it's certainly not for Indesign work as a rule. Invaluable for Photoshop functions.
I recently purchased a compact keyboard with no numpad (thought it exists with the use of the Num Lock function key on) to try and reduce the amount I stretch. It's not bad at all. The Back Space key is smaller and some of the keys like Ins and Del are at the bottom so this all needs getting used to, but like moving from a manual car to an automatic or vice versa, it's all possible.
It's only 30cm wide, so the new trackball and tablet should fit quite comfortably at a combined width of around 65cm, and not having to move the mouse to bring in the tablet.
I've also got a wrist rest on order.
Any other thoughts of improving one's comfort and well-being certainly welcomed.

MemberI've put those links etc in my favourites and not being a code minded person know its going to take some trawling through. But as you, or Kay says,”It's worth it…”
I remember getting quite excited by XML when I heard about it on the Indesign Secrets podcast one time (each episode of which I've listened to at least twice (maybe thrice?)). I'm keen to integrate what I do in print with my web presence using a wordpress blog, i.e. people post events, etc on the website which goes to a mysql database, I then create a .csv from that, create an xml file, import into Indesign and so on. I believe that's possible, right?
Thanks for all your help, and thus, encouragement.

MemberThanks Jongware, great, that seems to work – all I need to do now is understand it all ;)
What resources can you recommend I have a look at to learn more?

MemberHere's a sample of what I'm doing now…
<contact>
<department></department> (the category heading if you like)
<name></name>
<phonemobile><phone></phone><mobile></mobile></phonemobile>
<email></email>
</contact>
I can see what you're suggesting in having the <department></department> tags wrap the rest of the content.
How would I lay this out in in the original spreadsheet I wonder from which the XML derives?

MemberThanks Bob. I'm all up to date but the problem persists. However, I've switched off show thumbnails in the pages panel, set the live screen drawing in preferences to delayed and this has improved performance, but it is still sluggish and no way as responsive as CS4.

MemberIn my browser (firefox) if I press Alt+Spacebar once, it brings up the active window as you suggest JOngware. I've raised this as a potential issue with Adobe as suggested by Bob, but with the help of your feedback, I've gone into the Sound options on my PCs control panel, and found that 'Default Beep' was the offending element. I don't know if I'll miss this sound elsewhere, but it appears to have resolved my Indesign and Photoshop issue.
Thanks for your help.

MemberThanks Jongware
I was getting confused between Properties and Preferences which is why I couldn't find it (duh).

MemberHi.
Having read and thought about both of your suggestions, here is the workaround I've developed that seems to work:
– In each image, through Bridge or when creating them in Photoshop, I insert the description in File Info;
– I create a paragraph style in Indesign, 'Advert';
– I place the images into my document and then follow these instructions using this script: https://creativepro.com/modified-script-adds-captions-from-clipboard-to-images; I select XMP Description from the label type, and then Advert from the label style. If you have multiple images to apply captions to, leave them all unselected and the following notice displays 'Add captions to all images in the document?'. Click OK and job done;
– Once the captions (tags) are in place (automatically created on their own new layer called 'labels') I uncheck the Print Layer box under the Layer Options for 'layers';
– I then create a TOC using David's suggestion above, making the list alphabetical.
This seems to work well, though I can't group an image with it's caption as the image won't then print (I imagine the no print option for labels is applied to the image). I suppose a work around for this is to have the label text have no colour instead of the label layer Print Layer option being unchecked, but the downside is that you don't get to see the label then.
Anyway, I hope this helps and if anyone has any other suggestions I'm all ears.
Cheers.
