ParticipantUse another column to do that, eg @byke1 & @byke2.

ParticipantHave you created/applied a table/cell style? Things like the width should be controllable within this style.

ParticipantWhy would you want each record to be in different textframes? You get much more control if you use, for instance, a frame per event. Maybe this also causing your problem?
Edit: reading again; are you talking about the records of your excell sheet or the records within your table?

ParticipantIsn't that just the same cmd+f? At least in CS4 it is.

ParticipantYou could make a “cut” using -for instance- illustrator. Make sure you select a spot color and name it like “CUT color, don't print”, set to “overprint”. Just make sure you have also bleed applied to that figure.
The problem with these cut's are the area where the blue/red comes together with the Black. Maybe some one else does have a solution for this.

ParticipantFor those who might run into the same problem, what I've done the last time is:
Creating a “section marker” for the shelves and a “current page marker” for the positions. This way I can select the want “cards”, fill in the shelf number and restart the page numbering. Did save some time, compared to do all this manually.
The only problem I've had was with “Jump to…” and “Move pages…”, because of the same page numbers in the same document.

ParticipantIt's not just a thing you just can't explain.
In short: you can print full color, using 4 colors, CMYK or Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key or blacK. The less inks, the less costs.
Do get you going for now. Go to the swatches within ID. Click in the top right to unfold the dropdown menu and choose “New color swatch…”. Color type “spot” and at color mode “Pantone solid uncoated” since you will use it for newspapers. Here you can choose whatever color you want.

ParticipantI work mostly on booklets, flyers, posters. Besides that I'm creating some interactivity for the web (magazines/banners in Flash; loving the export from ID to FL). I'm constantly trying to improve and speeding up my designing skills, think of things like GREP and such.
Furthermore I also do the conceptual design, as well some text writing. I do all this for less then 2 years.
Quite versatile, I think. It keeps work interesting!
