      Hi,

      I've just upgraded to CS5 (yay) as part of Design Premium and have a new PC with windows 7 (yay). However, I've come across a real nuisance of an issue of getting a warning ping sound when:

      I have my cursor in a text frame, and I use the Alt+Spacebar Temporary Selection Tool to move the spread around;

      I draw any shape or text frame with Alt pressed down to draw it from the centrepoint, and whilst doing this try to move it around the spread by also pressing Spacebar.

      Evidently there is an issue with the Alt and Spacebar combo. Has anyone else come across this? I've also noticed it's a problem in Photoshop CS5 when using the Alt+Spacebar to invoke the Zoom Out tool.

      My software is all up to date, I couldn't find anything about this problem in Indesign Secrets, and the nearest I've found so far on Adobe's forum and Google is this https://forums.adobe.com/message/2919647 and this https://forums.adobe.com/messag…..98#3061498 which is primarily about Photoshop. A fix is mentioned within these two post (fix_cs5_scrollbug.zip) – is this the only option? Has anyone used it? Is there another option?

      Thanks.

      Reminiscent of the ol' “What Happend to Cmd+H” discussion on the Mac!

      For Windows, Alt+Spacebar always has had a function; this is from Microsoft's Windows 7 Shortcut Key list:

      “ALT+SPACEBAR

      Open the shortcut menu for the active window”

      I'm not sure why Windows would issue a *ping* when it actually should display the Window menu. In any case, it's Adobe's fault (!) for trying to work around system-defined shortcut keys — again.

      In my browser (firefox) if I press Alt+Spacebar once, it brings up the active window as you suggest JOngware. I've raised this as a potential issue with Adobe as suggested by Bob, but with the help of your feedback, I've gone into the Sound options on my PCs control panel, and found that 'Default Beep' was the offending element. I don't know if I'll miss this sound elsewhere, but it appears to have resolved my Indesign and Photoshop issue.

      Thanks for your help.
