Will faster GPU create faster page thumbnails?

      I generally work with 84-page catalogs with lots of images. I would like to utilize the page thumbnails often, but the redraw rate is so slow, I am spending a lot of wasted time waiting. I currently use a 2017 iMac with 48GB RAM, i7 processor and Radeon Pro 575 4GB. If I were to upgrade the GPU to a faster processor and 8GB or more, would this actually speed up the preview, or is this more a CPU function? Thanks!!!
