Why won't the text flow all the way to the bottom of the master text frame?

      Let me try again to describe.. I’ve been searching EVERYWHERE to figure out what’s going on.

      I have a 180 page book. I brought it over from WORD, I mapped styles the styles that were in word to ID. There are pages where the text does not flow to the bottom of the frame but goes to the next page. It’s not consistent. Sometimes there’s as much as five lines that should be available to the text, sometimes one.

      I’ve tried: all sorts of Keep Options, cutting text – bringing it to Text Wrangler/zapping gremlins and pasting back in, I”ve looked all over the web and in this forum.. There must be something basic that I don’t understand?

      Yes, I have a master text frame. I thought maybe it was overset text.. but there’s none left in the doc.

      I’m getting ready to strip the word doc of all formatting and replace it and manually do the whole thing, but I’m not sure that would fix the problem. I’ve been working on this for four hours today.. more yesterday. What’s going on?

      Thanks for help. I’m sooooo frustrated.

      Sounds super frustrating. When I have run into this, it is almost always:
      * Text wrap
      * Keep Options

      If you use the Selection tool to drag the text frame out on to the pasteboard, does it change anything?

      Thanks.. yes it is. No it doesn’t change the spacing in the text frame. In the interim (between posting and your response) I created a new file. Loaded master pages and text styles. Turned OFF Master Text Frame and flowed text into the doc. (Mapping Word styles to ID styles) That file doesn’t seem to have the same problem.

      So could it be master text frame? (I have dim memory from the last time I used ID intensively – three (?) years ago that it was a problem.)

      I’ve looked at all the Keep Options I think. I dont’ know how to force the text to flow to bottom. I do suspect Word gremlins?

      Thanks for help.

      Hi,

      FYI, I’ve seen a similar problem when working with columns. Is it possible that your word document is using columns or tables?

      Thanks for responding. Hmm… There are some tables in the doc but not in the places Where this problem is showing up. The problem DID go away when I turned off Master Text Frame. I’ve moved on.
