    I have an InDesign document with lots of coloured boxes (some black) with white text. When this is exported to Acrobat the white text appears as black text (if the background box is black you cant see any text).

    Can you advise how to fix this (nothing is checked in Attributes).

    I now find that it doesn’t matter what colour text is in the document – when exporting to Acrobat it shows black?

    I wonder if the white text is somehow being set to Overprint?
    You’re exporting using File > Export?

    Hi David

    I am not sure now if I have two different issues or if they are related.

    Now all text shows as black regardless of the colour and regardless of whether its on dark background
    Original issues is text shows black if on a coloured box (background)

    yes I am exporting to PDF

    There is an option to print text as black in the Print dialog box, but there isn’t one in the Export PDF dialog box, I think. I’m not sure why it would be affecting your PDFs. Try different PDF presets (such as pdf/x4). Maybe try some troubleshooting techniques, such as export doc as IDML and open that (to clean up possible doc corruption). Or try exporting to PDF using a different computer, or a different account on your computer.

    Do you think it might be worth uninstalling Indesign and re loading it? or is there a way to return everything to default?

    I have exported a document from Word to a PDF – colour comes across fine – so this would suggest it’s an issue with InDesign?

    I have also renamed InDesign defaults file – so a new one was created – but this hasn’t helped either?

    Can I also just point out that it’s only text that is coming across to the PDF in Black – a coloured box retains the colours

    Just to let you know I uninstalled and reinstalled both InDesign and Acrobat – this fixed both problems – drastic I know, but at the end of the day the quickest way to solve the problem!
