    I love Goudy. I love Meta. Honestly, I use Myriad Pro and Minion Pro the most, though.

    For many years I have set my default font in many applications to Palatino, though I find myself turning to Souvenir (yes, I know it is “old”) where a little more “style” is required, together with a certain retro feel.

    I tend to use Optima for headings, though I also like Myriad and, for some years, used Eras.

    My main priority is readability, which rules out the more fiddly fonts.

    Changes daily. For readable, modern looking text I often choose Meta. When I serif text is needed, I'm very fond of Giovanni. If “thins” are an issue, and it's a small amount of text, Iowan is good.

    I have always loved Gill Sans and the companion Joanna. But, the freebie, Fontin Sans, is coming up fast on the outside. It has a nice companion font and certainly hasn't been overworked. I wish I could find some uses for the Pressig family, but am still looking. Finally, a sans I use a bit for display is English by the British foundry K-Type.

    I go with Garamond, Caslon and Jenson in the old style serifs, Myriad Pro, Hypatia, Futura and Gill Sans in the sans, and Sanvito, Bickham and Zapfino (the newer OpenType uber-version) in scripts. Minion, Mrs Eaves, Palatino and Optima are also high on my list.

    As a matter of practicality, I tend to work with faces that give me a wide choice of weights, and I've become addicted to opticals in the last couple of years (Garamond Premier Pro is an awesome face to work with for many projects, for that reason).

    I like Helvetica Neue, neat and precise, and I am quite a fan of Syntax lately.

    Gill Sans also gets an honourable mention (with Joanna of course), and Garamond for a classic serif.

    I love DIN for its clean utilitarian look.

    Slap serifs such as Rockwell are great for headings and Officina sans and serif can work great on the page that serif version almost a slap serif but just a tad softer.
