      Hello to all designers there.

I am just a newbie in indesign & very poor in Math.
I know that Indesign do the math for us, but wants to know the following: –

As an inch consists of 16 scale divisions.

In Inch unit, I want to write a Word of font-size of 5 divisions of an Inch. But dont know that What (Numeric Inch unit value) is Equivalent to the 5 divisions of an inch. Please tell the same?

If I understand the question correctly, you may want to change your measurement units to inches decimal. In your parlance, it breaks an inch into 10 scale divisions. Then 1/5 is simply two units.

If it’s font size you’re trying to figure out, let InDesign do the math. Just type .2i for the font size. The “i” is for inches. BTW, that’s 14.4 pts. But what you want/need here is going to depend on font, cap height, and so on.

      Hope something here helps.

Sorry, asking more clearly this time.

On a paper flyer, with a tangible ruler, I measured the (font height of a random Sub Heading), it is 5 divisions of an Inch.

Now, in Indesign, with inch unit value, I want to write a sub heading of Same Height i.e. (5 divisions of an inch). But dont know that, in Indesign, What “Numeric Inch unit value”, I should enter in the “Font-Size Field”, in order to write the sub heading of same height i.e. (5 divisions of an inch). Please tell this “numeric inch unit value”.

I would try 5/16in in there. Type size can only be points or pixels so ID will convert the text for you into points, about 20 I think.

Actually, I think darpan is wanting to set the size of the font based on a “real measurement.” That turns out to be difficult because fonts are not designed to be specified like that. However, this will help:
