      Hi,

Pardon me if this comes to wrong place, but I’ve encountered a problem. What is the difference between Word and InDesign leading? I have a task to make my document with 1,5 leading which is (as far as I know) default in Word. In InDesign its 14,4 pt.

So in short, what is the correct leading in InDesign to get it 1,5?

E: My font size is 12pt

In InDesign, the default autoleading is 120% of the point size. I assume that in Word, a leading of 1.5 means 150% of point size.

So for 12pt type, you’d set the leading to 18 pts. in InDesign (150%).

You can check this for yourself by Placing (importing) a Word file that has 1.5 linespacing applied to text. When you Place it, choose to show Import Options, and have it retain styles and formatting. You’ll see that the text with 12 point text and 1.5 linespacing is converted to 12/18.
