      Hi

my first experience of this ….

I was sent an Indy file version 8, we use CC Indy version 9, on attempting to open the file I get an error message saying the file was generated by a newer version of Indy and won’t open! I always thought 8 came before 9!

Any ideas why this happened? Other than asking for the file to be re-submitted.

Just did an update to our CC – I can now open the file but only after Indy converts the file (conversion must be a new feature!)

Sounds like it’s not really an InDesign 8.0 file… must be a later version than you expected?
The conversion feature is relatively new: https://creativepro.com/cs6-update-opening-newer-cc-files.php

Hi David (gasp ‘the’ David Blatner!)

It opens as an Indy file after ‘conversion’ – looking deeper it originated on a Windows and I’m on Mac – maybe the versions differ for each platform?

      Richard,
LOL! Yup, “the.” (I haven’t graduated to a capitalized “The” yet.) ;-)
Ah, perhaps the “conversion” is different than I was imagining. Yes, generally all older documents get “converted” — that is they show up with [converted] in the file name — when you open them.
