Variable fonts and idml files

      I have not yet updated to Indesign 2020 and work in pre-press. How do variable fonts used in formatting styles get implemented in idml files? Do the variations become static or does type get outlined or something else entirely?

      IDML supports them just fine. That is, if you save as IDML and then open that IDML back in ID2020, they work.

      However, of course they don’t work in ID2019. It comes in as a missing font.
